Double Knockouts and Jap Beetles

I am always overloaded with JBeetles every year - hundreds of them. I go out about 20 times a day and drop them in soapy dishes - This is my second year with knockouts and really the first year I saw a lot of blooms - they "were" gorgeous.

Here's my question: If there are a lot of leaves that are now lacey as a result of the beetles... can that destroy the whole rosebush for next year?

I used the systemic Bayer for roses - but it never did any good - Luckily I don't work but in 100 degree weather here, I am exhausted going out so many times a day looking to pick them off.

I am lucky that at 7 in the morning, there are many sleeping on the rosepetals and are very easy to knock off - but it's the bottom leaves I can never protect.

I tried Neem Oil - but it did no good.

I just want to know - can they do so much damage that the actual plant can die? Thanks so much for any help

Carrie (Good thing those bugs don't bite!)
