Help please - problems with Jane Magnolia

Hello everyone,

I just joined this forum hoping to find feedback/information as to what to do about a young Jane Magnolia that appears not to be doing well second year in a row. I received the potted magnolia last year and due to various 'projects' going on in both the front and back yards, the magnolia has not been planted. Last spring as well as this spring, she did bloom and got new leaves, but then developed white spots on the trunk as well as the branches. When I researched it these appeared to require a spraying of a pesticide - which I did and she developed new leaves. This spring she bloomed again, leaves developed, but are now brown and shriveled up/follow off. I'm hoping she can be saved, but I don't know the best way to go about this. Special fertilizer, leave her alone and allow her to recover naturally? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

She is currently in the backyard and gets about 6 hours of sun.
