who said you can't adjust carb. on new two strokes?

well, at least some walbro's you can. the ones that got the adjustment screw but Tamper proof covering or the hex or splined ended ones. I just adjusted the carb. on two of the new ebay trimmers I got for less than 20 bucks plus shipping.

I will amit it was hard to get them too turn beings I didn't have the correct screw driver type tool with the proper end on it, but the did turn. I maked a starting point first and about 1/4 turn out done the trick. Hit the throttle now and it sounds like a chain saw. Looked at my four strokes and there are no adjustment or even a molded housing for the screws on them. My new cheap blower has adjustment screws on it also.

Most things can be fixed, just a little harder sometimes. I have a 6.5 Hp Briggs on my sawmill that died when a hyd cylinder would hit the end of the stroke. No high speed adjustment so I took out the high jet and bored it out a little with a torch tip cleaner. It runs great now. Steve

I pulled the limiter caps off my Ryobi carb and underneath them are normal carb adjustment screws. A little touch up and now it runs properly without needing 1/2 choke for the first 10 minutes of operation.

How can that lower pollution anyway? Needing to spend so much time on partial choke likely offsets any cleaner burning once it's fully warmed up...

Hi all. Old thread, but I'm hopeful I can get some advice here. My S-200 was stored improperly by a friend, so of course the carb got gunked up. I have it back now, am in the process of rescuing it. First, I emptied the tank and gas line, filled the gas line with carb cleaner and let it sit. Then I put some fresh gas in the tank, and got it running with the help of a couple shots of go-or-blow. At first, it would conk out after a few seconds. I found I was able to keep it running by pushing the primer. Now I have it to the point where it will keep running if I leave the choke closed. I'm sure the carb could use a new diaphragm and a good cleaning. I'm not afraid to redo the carb, but I can't get the lower housing off to get to the carb without damaging the choke linkage. Advice? Thanks!!

OK, I got the chainsaw running. I removed carb and poked a fine wire (guitar G string) in the little holes in the main throttle body to remove any debris. Then I removed those little plastic adjustment limiters and removed the adjustment screws and cleaned them. The L screw had some noticeable residue on it. The H looked OK. Put it back together, pumped the primer and it started on the first pull. Kinda wet here so didn't cut anything with it but the throttle was very responsive and it idled good. Now for the trimmer. Spent hours cleaning every tiny opening I could find. Still only runs with full throttle and full choke. Zama has some good docs on their website and it looks like my problem could be a dirty main jet but I can't get to it - it's buried in there somewhere. It's got check valve so I can only clean it from one direction. There are some plugs that are press fit that might give me better access but not sure if these are meant to be removed. I think I'll just opt for a new carb. BTW, I checked the gas line, return line, vent line, carb screen, fuel filter and muffler screen and all were OK. Spark was good too so I'm pretty confident it's the carb.

Hi Lilyfinch, Yes that Mexican Shell Flower is a sight to see,..it does multiply to more than double the following season,..they are by no means a small bloom as my smallest are 4 inches wide and the large ones 6 inches,..i collected the seeds last year and have seedlings just now as well as the mature plants,..the only drawback is that the bloom only lasts for a day however next morning there will be more blooms,..i have red,..yellow and pink just now but they have produced cross blooms. Keep daydreaming about where you will plant your new beauties,..gardeners dream a lot,..smile. =============================================== Hi midnightsmum, Ah so you were also smitten with the Mexican Shell Flower,..now you can understand my longing to have some. I will check my seed collection for yourself and Lilyfinch,..i am sure i have some left as i gave away quite a good few at the start of Spring. About your Hollyhocks,..it is said they grow in almost any soil,..i grow them myself from seeds and sow the seeds outside in late Autumn just before the frost arrives,..they do thrive on moist rich soil and a sunny location,..i also use Miracle Grow and a must is to spray the leaves with fungicide to prevent hollyhock rust which is airborne,..i will keep my fingers crossed for you with your Butterfly Bush. According to the link I provided, if you click on the ACCESSORIES tab at the middle of the page, it shows the hose and regulator at $29, and also gives a catalog number for these items, as well as ordering info. IT does say IN STOCK, so there would be no need to call, unless you don't have a20 pound propane tank. These are available at most major hardware stores and also BJs and Costco. Simply find a place where you bring the tanks to an they fill them. I bought a weed burner last summer from Northern and its a good thing that I checked, as I also needed a propane tank cart and a special accessory valve that allows the flame to burn at a low rate (acts like a pilot light), then when I squeeze a tab valve it goes into high pressure mode until I release the tab and then reverts back to the low flame. Much better than starting with a sparker every time I need the high flame.

I think those carb adjustment screw caps are like the tags on mattress and other stuffed items.DO NOT REMOVE.I have not torn the tags off anything,but the caps have been somehow "falling off" on their own for quite a few years that I know of.I put the caps back of,IF I can find them.......but they are so small......

I need a new trimmer. Can you post a link on ebay?
I'm looking for a straight shaft trimmer that the head turns clockwise. They all seem to turn counter-clockwise?

Go to ebay.com, click on ebay categories- look for home and garden, click on outdoor power equipment, look in left hand colmun, click on string trimmers. Find one you like make sure you read the discription at the bottom, some have problems, don't want you to buy anything you can't fix, got about all brands on there for sale. Sometimes shipping it high, I think they do that to offset the low bids on some models.

I don't think they tell which way the head spins unless you know a certain brand spins clockwise. You'll have to figure out a way of paying if you win a bid, paypal is the quickest and easiest IMO and everybody accept that method.
