yet another newbie question

hi all! needing reassurance LOL. my hardy geraniums, hellebores, and a few others say to keep them warm and moist (65-68 F i think but the packets are not in front of me) for 2-4 weeks, then cold for 4. should i do the warm period, or just plain winter sow them? i have a few that are already a week into a warm period (done before i became a ws addict)-- how should i treat those?

i am also looking for advice on your techniques for starting daylily seeds. i splurged on a few special crosses and would prefer not to kill them. ws them has mixed reviews on the daylily forum, from what i have seen, but people tend to stick to what they already know. any experiences and stories you have to tell would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!
