Question on purchase of a Bagger for 42'

I'm getting no where trying to find a bagger that will any ANY of my units.

I have 3 42" decks. 1 46" Murray unit. I've bought 3 separate shoots to fit the deck so I can get a bagger going and none fit.

Tomorrow I am going to Lowes AGAIN...to look at the bagger that is mounted on a cheapo 38 inch Bolin. I am taking the deck shoots which I already have to try and NOT buy that style.

So what sort of guidance can you folks give me on finding a

bagger for one of my units.

I have a Yard Machine 42, a Craftsman with an oddball deck and a Scotts which claims on the side to be built by John Deere.

And a triple blade Murray 46,,,

It would be a lot easier to buy the proper boot for the deck. Lowes is NOT a mower shop. Any mower bone yards by you? That would be the most cost effective....

EBAY....and you're right about the Scotts, it's built by JD. Just look up the PN on the internet using your model number, then search ebay using the PN. Easy peasy.

Yes, the Super Bagger mulches fine. It is the same deck used on the 2007 Lawn-Boy 22271 Commercial and the current Toro 22156 Commercial w/Honda engine. It performs fine in all three modes. My version is the LB 22271. I have noticed that it holds the clippings in the housing longer than some others (actually good for re-cutting them) but this can produce a clump at stops/turnarounds. I cut a three-strip wide header all around the mowing area first. This gives the mower time to digest the clippings before coming to a stop/turnaround. I've never had a Super Recycler so I can't say if one would do the same thing on my yard. I can say that the Honda engine runs quieter and smoother than any non-OHC mower engine, and it helps make mowing a little more enjoyable.

A few years ago I too purchased a half dozen of those $3.00 discount roses just to see how good or bad they really were. I wanted to see for myself whether they were really just junk, or if I stood some chance that they'd make something of themselves. Most of them died shortly after leafing out. One never leafed out at all. 'Chrysler Imperial' spend year one struggling to make a couple of 12" growths, and then died the first Winter. There is a sole survivor: 'Blue Girl' which I kept in a pot in the greenhouse for a year before planting it out. It does reasonably well, although it is still a two cane wonder after four years. I would expect better of a grafted Hybrid Tea after four years, but there you have it. My experience has taught me to avoid these types of roses, for the odds are that they will not perform as well as properly grown and well cared for specimens. (Bear in mind that I am talking specifically about the real cheapies from generic Tyler companies like Certified Roses, not the discount roses from J&P that show up in places like Costco. Let's make that distinction, at least. The odds are much better if you buy boxed J&P's and the like, especially if you get them as soon as they show up in the stores. As others have stated, the longer they sit in the store, the lower the odds are that they will grow well.) Paul

Not sure. I just got my YS4500 today (42in deck) with the 3 hard baggers. You might want to buy the parts (frame, top and hard bins) as parts on the parts site. Might be cheaper than buying the soft option and then the hard bins.

Craftsman Bagger - Which One Is Best?

I have had a bagger system on 2 different mowers, both 2-bag and both soft. One was a 38-in. deck MTD (Wards) tractor mower and the present one is a 48-in. John Deere ZTR with blower system. I like the soft bags because they allow free flow of air through the mesh bags and I think that provides better flow of the grass into the bags. They collapse and therefore require less storage space when removed. Also, the bags are easily replaceable on the top steel support tube ring and are fairly inexpensive. The bags on my ZTR are much larger than the tractor was, and many times I don't have to stop midway to empty them for my 1/2 acre lawn like I did with the tractor. However, when they are full of moist grass they are heavy and a pain to carry any substantial distance when dumping. The plastic bins are no doubt durable but you may have to replace the whole bin if damaged. Don't know about their weight. If they are designed properly, all of the bags on the 3-bag system should fill OK, but without a blower system as on my ZTR there could be a problem filling that last bag with moist/damp grass without clogging the discharge tube first. For side discharge, the tube is easily removed and the bagger can remain fully assembled on the back of the tractor..... at least that was the case with my two systems

Bought a new bagger system. $299. Going to try it out this morning. Found one to fit the Yard Machine. I really wanted one for the Scotts but they were 399- plus the token 9% to Taxifornia

I have an old bagger system off of a JD S-92 38" that I'll give you if it would fit and if you pay the shipping from TN. It has two cloth bags that are worn out, but something could be fabricated. The frame that holds the bags and the plastic shoot from the deck to the bags are OK. If interested, send me some specs and I'll measure what I have.

One aspect that I quickly found out....those netting bags allow dust and fine grass to blow back on you while you mow.

I had a used triple bagger with buckets. Next week we try it with the buckets vs the netting bags.

I'm having a time trying to find a bagger system for my John Deere LT155 rider mower. This may seem out of the box, but I was wondering if I can buy the bracket for the system and hook up a 42" bagger system? Any thoughts
