Pink Poodle

I'm pretty happy with my Pink Poodle echinacea this year, was a little worried after all the ruckus last year on the board about this one - I bought last year while blooming but was concerned the blooms would be wonky this year. It's still a small plant but seems to be healthy, and the flowers are lovely - they are a little richer in color than the photo below.

Are you sure that's not a dahlia? Doesn't look like Euchinacea to me.

Is the color a darker 'pink' than your photo?

I have it and it's growing very slowly for me. I hope it takes off this summer, but it doesn't seem to grow as strongly as the other pink doubles called Pink Double Delight and Razzmatazz. Milkshake is a very good white double so far. Notice in all the photos of Pink Poodle they never show the entire plant. I think this might because it doesn't have good basal branching which is a sign of weakness. I'm interested to hear what others have to say about this plant so far in their gardens. Mine is a new plant I received about a month ago, but so far it's not impressing me.

Hello Echinaceamaniac I noticed you were complaining about some other echinaceas in an earlier post. I would be very interested in your comments re Razzmatazz, Pink Poodle and Pink Double Delight. I'm using them as a Frame/Border for Phlox "David", Valerian "Coccineus"/Sedum "Frosty Morn", Veronica "Royal Candles" and "Fairytale". This a new flower bed and as it takes a few years to develop, I would be very upset if the Echinaceas disappeared in a year or two. Thank you in advance.

Trospero enabled me into Pink Poodle a couple years ago. Its absolutely charming. Highly recommended. Mine has quite upright branching and gets about 2 1/2 feet tall. It seems impervious to mildew. The flowers are, as mentioned above, variable in petal count and shape. At their best they're among the most attractive on any mini IMHO. Scent is pretty good too (it can hold its own fragrance-wise against a whole lot of other modern roses). Here is a link that might be useful: Pink Poodle

Yep, it's darker pink than the photo, but not a lot darker, and the color is richer IRL. And yes, it is an Echinacea :0)

After first disappointing blooms this year:

my Pink Poodle is doing really well too:

Another favorite is Hot Papaya. I start thinking that double Echinaceas are better than singles. Singles are horrible this year in my garden.

Thank you so much for posting the picture of your Pink Poodle Echinacea. It's gorgeous and I love the shape and color of the double flowers. It's one that I would like to add to my flower bed.
