Squirrel damage to bark of Chinquapin oak

I have two mature Chinquapin oaks in the backyard of a Dallas home I've owned for just under a year. In the last month, squirrels have been stripping large amounts of bark from the upper limbs. I've consulted with a few arborists, who told me that the damage should not be fatal to the tree. While I certainly hope that's the case, I wanted to see if anyone has experienced this problem and if so, whether the oak was able to recover without major problems.

Thanks for your time.
