Can someone identify this old rose?

The pix below are of a rose that was growing on the property when we moved here in 1965. It had been here for a good many years before, the base was very old and woody, my guess it had been here since the house was built in the 40's. DH thought he had chopped it all out when he was putting up the fence but it sprang back gangbusters. We planted a laurel hedge outside the hedge to block out the highway and this rose has meandered up through the laurel and now is at least 15 feet in length. This is not the best example of this rose most of the flowers are bigger in size but it was the only piece we could reach with the pole pruner. It has the most wonderful old rose fragrance, does anyone have an idea of which rose it might be?

The following question must be answered before we can begin to suggest meaningful possible identities of your rose: does it bloom for a few weeks in early Summer and no repeat later in the growing season?

It blooms for a few weeks, it's blooming now, I don't think it's a repeat bloomer but will keep my eye on it and post back to this thread if it does. We've been wondering for years which one it is, I't would be great to solve the mystery. I'm going to try to root the piece we managed to cut off.

Ok here are a few more pics I hope will help. I think it is a tea rose, but I have never really detected a scent from it. It is wider than it is tall. I am zone 8 and only grow teas, China's, Noisette, hybrid musks, and a few found or species roses of which I know this is not. The full bush shot is mostly this rose but I do have two others behind and next to it so it's kinda hard to tell. It does have thorns but not as bad as say Belinda's Dream. Thanks

I'm late to the party, but it's not often I can offer any help from my small selection of full grown roses. So many of mine are still babies. Any way I agree. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture. Darcy Brussell. My DB is about 3 years old. She has turned out to be my smallest DA rose, bush wise. She's about 3' high by about 4 1/2' wide. She blooms pretty often but never to the point where the bush is loaded with blooms, often 10 or 12 at a time. The scent is petty light, and I find the flowers to be on the small side. I kept thinking they would grow larger with time, feeding, or cooler temps. So far that has not happened. Do any of you who grow it find that the blooms are a bit on the small side? Now that the weather has cooled, I am seeing a few clusters of 3 at the end of canes. Darcy's blooms are a cool red with violet undertones. They last a day or three in the vase. I like her, but wish her blooms were larger, smellier and lasted longer cut. On the plus side she has come through the heat and drought unfazed, has shown not one iota of disease, and always has a bloom or two. A keeper for me!

I'm sorry this picture is so bad...on my computer it's perfectly clear! Jeri...in person the flowers were really large...5-6 inches. I'm not sure if Don Juan flowers get that big. But, it would be a rose I would expect to see in a public space like that one. I saw 'Linda Campbell' in full and glorious bloom at the San Jose Heritage and it was a sight to behold!! If I could find a place for it in my garden, I would...and I don't normally care for red roses as much! roseseek....I didn't even notice the Dr Huey blooming in the pic! So that means it's definitely a grafted rose. It looked to me almost like an Austin when I saw it...but that was just from the car. Hopefully, I will go back to Sacramento when the cemetery has it's rose sale, and I'll take a better look at the rose in Old Town. Thank you both for giving me your opinions!

Ooooh, pretty! The last two pics could be Honey Dijon. Are all four different roses? There are some experts here who will most likely be able to identify them, but they will want to see more pics of the entire bush, foliage, canes with thorns and know your general location.

If it is a "once bloomer", as I suspect it is, then 'Paul Ricault' is one possible ID for it. Here is mine:

Hmmm, thought I had responded but must have not hit submit. Rose in hand I compared it to your Paul Ricault, it could be it's twin sister. so hopefully mystery solved. Armed with a name I look up Paul Ricault and it sure looks like this is what I have. Thanks for the fast ID.
The flower I have measures 3" across but I'm sure there are larger ones that are getting more sun.
This rose must be quite hardy, we had a very cold winter with temps going down to -4 degrees F. very unusual for Vancouver Island.

It also can be Mme Isaac Perrier. Paul Ricault leaves are more pointy for me.
Without special care MIP will not have much repeat.

It's so hard to tell from photo's but Mme Isaac Perrier looks to be a slightly softer shade of pink. My rose is growing through the laurel hedge so it's quite shaded from the afternoon sun. I'll add MIP to a list of possibles. Can you tell me the height MIP grows to? Mine of course is reaching for the sun so that probably the reason mine is 15'.

I can only see part of one in the third shot, but the stipules look rather distinctive. Maybe that could help id it.

My MIP has a darker pink color just as in your picture. It fades fairly quickly in the sun, but it starts out as a medium dark pink.

It does look like it could very well be MIP I just went out and looked at another fully opened rose through binoculars, this particular flower gets more sun and it is a much softer pink. Who else has to view roses through binoculars for a close-up inspection LOL. Thanks for all your help guys.
