Ok i have a petite pink drift knockout.. which after replanting to a pot developed a similar sounding problem…first off i realized pot was not draining well so took it out of the pot washed off roots and repotted with new soil. trimmed the branches that had curling leaves back, used Bayer 3 in one fertilizer, antifungal, insecticide granules and worked into soil around base and watered from under foliage. repeated again this season and noticed same with curling leaves and shimmery white coating as well. i cut it back leaving only healthy clear stems and leaves..removed all debris off soil and bagged and tossed. reapplied Bayer and its looking much better. I’ll give it one more season before I rip it out! 😂👍

If you're just looking for ornamentation in the garden then now would be fine. If you were looking for seeds to grow you should have left some to go to hips back in June. They take between 90 and 120 days to ripen fully. Most hips will turn red or orange when they ripen but some never change color at all. Just depends on the variety.

Probably fall is not the time to apply granules. I am not an expert on this, but I believe the recommendation is to apply granules at bud-break in spring. The midge pupa overwinter in the soil in cocoons. Only a small percentage survive winter and emerge as winged adults, which fly up to lay eggs on the new shoots. These hatch into tiny maggots which do the damage. There are several generations per season, each larger than the previous. After feeding for a couple of weeks, the maggots drop off to pupate in the soil, at which time they are vulnerable to insecticide in the soil. You can also spray the top growth to catch the active larvae. Recommended chemicals are imidacloprid for the soil and cyfluthrin for the spray. These names appear in the fine-print active ingredients, regardless of brand names. "Merit" is a brand name for imidacloprid.

For 4 years I've tracked every bloom cycle of our 150+ rose cultivars from 14 classes. Our best blooming H.T.s are " Lemon Spice" and "Double Delight" "Miss Ashley" a H.T., but because they only produce 4 bloom cycles a year, with a yearly total average of c. 15 weeks of bloom per year, and have a longer period of dormancy, I would not call them everblooming, I would reserve that term to refer to China and Old Garden Tea class roses which bloom for more than 23 weeks a year, under the same conditions, it matters greatly to me because they give 2 more months of bloom. My roses that bloom every month from March through November are: "Mutabilis" not surprising since it's a China, "Ducher" a China-Tea "Nastarana" a Noisette with a strong China genetic influence. "Marie Pavie" Polyantha "Reve d' Or" Tea- Noisette "Lady Hillingdon" Old Garden Tea, blooms non-stop for 16 weeks during just its' first flush of the year. Others that produce 5 or more flushes a year are: "Angels' Camp Tea" Old Garden Tea "Duchesse de Brabant" and its' two sports. "Mme. Berkeley" Old Garden Tea Our China and Old Garden Tea roses bloom from March through November. Luxrosa
