Hello. I live in Branson, MO, and have lost a few trees in the last couple of years to drought. First several cyprus got diseased. I put in a dogwood last spring, and it got fried as well.
What I'd like is a hearty, full-sun tree with fall color, which is low-maintenance (reliable yard help is sometimes hard to come by in this area). It would be planted next to my house in the backyard, but not needed for shade, mostly color.
Someone recommended crabapple or split-leaf sumac, but both would seem to need constant care to prevent spreading (or a yard full of tiny rotten apples).
What do you recommend?
Thanks!
