Hens and Chicks (Sempervivum Hybrid)

I just bought these to go inbetween some rocks but didn't realize it requires full sun. I'm putting them around our pool. That area doesn't get sun all day, but more toward the afternoon b/c it is the west side of our house. Do you think they'll do ok there and if not, is there something else I could plant inbetween rocks that is short? Now that I think of it, not sure that's a good choice for this area since we'll be stepping on the rocks (they're cobble stones that I have layered, one higher than the other, and I want some kind of ground cover inbetween them). Here's a picture where I started this. I just poured 3 molds today ... (not shown in this picture)... but you get the idea. Above where you see those rocks will be another layer of those cobblestones and between THAT and the bottom layer is where I need/want to have some plants.
