can I add this to my compost
Comments (1)Roundup is pretty short lived, so it should be okay to compost weeds that were killed with it....See MoreHow much dirt can I put in the compost pile?
Comments (6)I would not want dirt in my compost pile, or very little of it at least. You did not say what type "dirt", sandy or clay etc. That could make a difference, too much of one kind might cut off most oxygen and slow down your composting efforts. If you feel that you really need to add it, I would do it sparingly and mixed well with the other ingredients, rather than a layer, if it were me. Oh, you can just bury stuff in the ground and it will rot, but that is not what I think of as composting. I do not know if it would be practical where you live, but another possibility might be to spread it out and make a big pad for your composting area which would catch the leaching from the compost and one day be really good stuff to spread on your garden as an amendment, I think. Leave the bottom out of any bin that you build. That should make a well drained area to compost on and eliminate any problems with water logging. Just my thoughts. Comments (9)I'm sure Prairiemoon will be back to answer, "OK. You know we're going to ask.....why did you hard boil them BEFORE knowing what they were going to used for?", but let me take a stab... There was an original use, but after they were accidentally left out, OP is looking for something else to do with them. Insert 'are now' as in "... and ARE NOW trying to think" Although I realize that eggs left out overnight are okay (after all, they were left out all night for our Easter Egg hunts when we were children), I have to admit I wouldn't want to eat them. Lots of things I used to eat as a kid are on my "don't eat" list now...raw cookie dough, mud pies......See MoreCan I add 5 months old horse manure compost to the garden beds?
Comments (2)Sometimes manure producers make big piles that are not necessarily well managed compost piles. If the manure was just piled up it may not have composted aerobically in the center of the pile, so it may not be 'finished' compost. The best way to tell is by appearance and odor. If you see poop apples, or it smells like poop, it might need some additional curing time with more air. If you don't see poop or bedding material (straw etc.), and the aroma is earthy and compost-like, it's ready to use....See Moreadirondackgardener
