My Japanese Beetle experiment begins!

Every other year I have tried to follow Bill Henry's (of Roses Unlimited) advise and just ignore the Japanese beetles and pruning back the damage when they're finished. I hate using Sevin dust! I confess, some years I've resisted better than others. LOL!!!

This year I am trying Goodbye Beetles from Organic Plant Healthcare and Ashdown Roses. Thursday evening I spotted a few of the little monsters on my roses. Since I had to work Friday I sprayed Goodbye Beetles this morning. The stuff actually smells pretty good with the active ingredient being cedar oil. So we'll see what happens from here. I do have to spray the stuff every seven to ten days.

But the beautiful thing was while I was out there my neighbor walked over with a little boxer puppy. Billy Styles swears this stuff is safe enough to spread all over yourself if you want so I didn't hesitate a bit with that puppy in the yard. I wouldn't have felt that way if I'd been using Sevin.
