Folks, we missed a few birthdays! - Pondboi! Pondboi, are you still visiting the forum? Happy belated b'day friend! - Mike from Illinois! Our much appreciated all-around helper with pond construction etc etc. Mike, you too, belated but no less warm wishes for all the best this coming year! Also, Adrea's (Isis) birthday is coming up the 30th, so, girl, we might as well include you in our waves of cyber hugs and kisses. This cake is for all three of you! The picture is a bit fuzzy but it's the best I could do with this very, very special cake. Wow thanks everyone..I had a terrific birthday.There was a little of everything from some plants (day lilies- Custard Candy and Frans Hal + red tiger lilies) to a new bathrobe..plus some great gardening music ( a cd of Josh Grobin and one of Alison Krauss). My daughter and SIL had a bar-b-que and all the kids were there and all the grandkids..I feel blessed.. Jean (savona)

Jean....Happy Belated Birthday to You!!!!! Sounds like you had a nice dinner, love those steak and margaritas too. Wanted to also tell you how my heart was heavy and felt for you, after hearing about the passing of Aleta. I was so glad to get to meet her, she seemed like a very gentle caring person. You were so blessed to have her in your life! Hope you are making garden plans for spring also, it will be a new year for you and the gardens, you will have fun remembering all the plants you too collected together, and the places you went. Goodness,some more beautiful roses for me.I am rateing high for this birthday and I am loving every bit of it,too :) Leslie,you do have a good memory.I remember when you first got this rose last year,I loved it,and still love it and must have one,soon I hope.Thats why I wanted this bench is the (arms) on it to help get back up when on the knees.I find it easier on my back to get on my knees to pull up weeds or putting some fertilizer around bushes,but,then its hard for me to get back up on my feet.I think this would be a big help for me.. Cupshape: forgot your name,(sorry) Thank you for the Birthday wish.I did have a sunny day,NO roses yet.well,except for a little pot of mini roses my youngest daughter brought me from the grocery store. (Well why not celebrate life every day Jean? )I do Thank god for each day when I wake up every morning,that I am allowed to be on this earth another day to go outside and see the roses,and smell them when they are in bloom. Thank you all. This was a milestone birthday. I should have known my family would never let me alone. I received at 8 a.m. a giant funeral arrangement of lilies on a stand with black bunting. I should have expected as much from my Dad. I have just left a 5 hour mediation while I picked at my fingernails and imagined myself drinking a martini and now I am back at the office diligently working, or at least I was until I got an e-mail from Carla. I am going to work until 5 and head home for a cocktail and a stroll through the garden. Thanks again for the pictures and the well wishes.

Jean, seriously, I do miss you on the forums. I can only say that I am glad I came in to roses when I did (years ago). Your sage advice led me to grow many OGRs that I will now never be without. I don't know if I would have been as brave without you.

We should always take time in life to show our gratitude...so on your birthday let me say thanks, sincere thanks, for helping my garden to be a rose garden.

A little late as usual but Happy, Happy, Birthday to you! I hope the dawgs gave you the respect and love you deserve on your birthday.... We do miss you, your sense of humour and your knowledge about roses and their care. I'm with Ronda, I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't shown up at a time when you were still posting a lot. My garden would be a mess! I hope the garden was fragrant, the martini was cold and that there was cake available at some time during the evening.

I am late too, Jean...please forgive me. I hope the martini , was a good one, and the walk, fine...and, that you got to eat some cake..you share a Birthday, with my DH who gets very surly, when I mention birthdays to him, so we ignore his, to make him happy..But when mine comes around, it is a different story!

Thanks everyone. I spent the rest of the week in trial, so as always, no rest for the wicked. The country music fans are in town driving us locals insane, so I have retreated to my garden. Of course, it's hot as Hades and I am sweating in unladylike places and am driven indoors by the mosquitos (I always thought they wouldn't bite lawyers out of professional courtesy). I do lurk and I do post so you know it's not like I'm not here. :-)

I am planning to have folks here in the fall if anyone is inclined. Consider it an invitation.
