I don't have the experience in the planting. I do have the taste experience. Temptation is a good tasting sweet corn, Ambrosia I don't like as well. My favorite is Serendipity as the best tasting sweet corn for the mid-north area of Indiana. We may be planting sweet corn in abundance first time this year. It's really for comparative purposes only, to compare varieties to each other, but it's officially from transplant time to first ripe tomato. It's usually based on a transplant that has been grown 5 to 7 (or 6 to 8) weeks prior to transplanting... say... a transplant about 8" tall or so. That's why with so many variables (age, size, weather) the DTM is rather useless except to show one variety ripens sooner than another. I just harvested a few Sungold and Galina's that were planted the first week of June... they were started from seed the first week or two of April but spent about 7-8 weeks growing under fluorescent lights and a small greenhouse the latter part of May before they were transplanted in June...

Thanks Sue. I assumed that when the seed package said 72 day to maturity it was from when the seed germinated. OK, I found another seed pack that said from transplant. I will be starting form a cutting that is about 10 inches long buried so that only two or three small leaves are above the ground. They really grow quick. Like the one in the pink container. The cutting will start off growing fast. As the weather is getting cooler, out of the 90 degrees, the cutting should grow fast until the weather gets much cooler. It seems like it is going to be guess work as I have never done this before. Next year I should know a little more about the time it takes to produce big green tomatoes like the tomato plant on the right. May be someone else with a green house has already done this. As long as I have tomatoes that have set I should be alright. I just donÂt want to grow a tomato plant all winter that never sets tomatoes. Karyl ====
