weeping cherry tree disease

Hi, all...I have a weeping cherry tree that is about 30 feet tall, with a trunk diameter of 18 inches. It has been beautiful, up to and including this spring, when it bloomed profusely. Now the leaves are very sparse, and the trunk bark and large limb (diameter about 8 inches) bark is split all the way down to the roots. I noticed one split this spring, and since then the bark has split in two more places. The smaller branches (the ones that "weep") are dead, or dying. Has anyone ever heard of this problem? I googled the tree, and found nothing that resembles this problem. I have been spraying as far a I can reach with a fungicide, also apraying the trunk heavily. I am going to try Bayer's fruit and tree spray next. Help, please!!
