Advice on Heavy duty Zero Turn wanted
Comments (5)Thanks for the suggestions. A landscape man just emailed me, he loves his Ferris machines. He said I should not spend the extra money on a diesel as I would not ever wear out the engine with the kind of mowing I do. If I never buy another lawnmower but this one, I want to make sure it is the correct one....See MoreZero-Turn Mowers in $3,000 range
Comments (4)I have a new Toro SS5000 residential lawn mower with 15 hours on it. Recently a friend of mine is selling his 2002 Great Dane Chariot 61" deck with 368 hours. Should I sell my TORO and get this Great Dane or just keep what I have? The great Dane was for his fathers home with 5 acres so no comercial use and he was first owner. Definitely not as pretty as my toro but with the 61" deck it makes quick work of my yard as I test cut yesterday. definitely can use a tune up but no major issues. He is asking $3000 which is around what I paid for my toro....See MoreAriens zero-turn riding mower quits and wont turn over until next
Comments (1)Jim, please post the model number and serial number of your mower. Also please post the engine model number and other numbers from the engine itself. Your problem might be caused by something in the tractor chassis wiring, or it could be specific to the engine you have. Without some identifying numbers, we can't check our sources for info on anything. Also, let's be perfectly clear on what you mean when you use the word "crank". Do you mean you turn the key and absolutely nothing happens? No noise, engine does not spin? Or do you mean the engine spins but it will not catch on and run by itself?...See MorePSI question for zero-turn
Comments (11)"Hey Walt, I was just wondering how you came up the combination of 8 PSI in rear and 15 in the front. Is that a Dixon recommendation? " I don't remember what Dixon recommends, 12 rear and 20 front I THINK. How I judge proper inflation on ZTR rear tires is park it on concrete, look at the profile of the tire, IF the tire is bulging, rounded, in the middle of the tread, too much air. If the tire comes off, too little (grin) These things steer by the rear wheels. The rear tire needs to have the best foot print, tread to surface, contact possible. Rounded, tire tread = less traction. Ride is another consideration especially on the rear wheels mainly. Now, on the front tires, the softer they are the more resistance they offer to caster increasing requirements on rear wheel for turning force. Walt Conner...See Moremssurveyor
