Need color theory/ color balancing advice!
Comments (13)Thank you so much everyone for your feedback! For reference, this is not my first vaulted-ceiling in a bedroom, so while it presents challenges we actually really like the tall ceiling. I special ordered dimmable recessed LED’s for the last house that were designed for sloped ceiling applications and they worked really well. I definitely would not introduce a color that’s not already in the wallpaper. As some of you said, you want it to be the star of the show. I guess my point was trying to figure out if a dark color would support that as a centerpiece , or if a lighter color on the walls would be preferable . Ultimately I just worry about it being too busy, between the bed, night stands and lamps. For whatever reason I couldn’t post extra pic yesterday, but I’ll post the colors, I realize ever monitor is different and I can understand why purple may seem overwhelming to people, but for instance Velvet Cloak from Benjamin Moore had a light value <3 , so it is DARK, it’s also Aura, so it performs differently than a lot of other paints . I’ll also post a pic of our bedroom set for context, it’s called Symphony from Legacy Furniture. We are also ordering the Gleaming Primrose Mirror from Anthropologie . I will definitely post pictures when it’s done you’ve all been super helpful. Love all of the ideas and advice !!...See MoreI need a color expert!!!! Shutter color brick house!
Comments (11)Mathew, I wouldn't put shutters on a double window. To be properly sized they'd be really wide on a double window and look odd, or you might not even have enough room for shutters that wide. That being said, I'd say most shutters I see are sized wrong and/or on the wrong style window. You see some pretty crazy stuff. See if the link below can help. He has good advice with, "One of the very basic premises that all shutters should have is that they look like they could actually protect your windows. That means that if they could be closed, they would cover the window. Many houses are designed with windows that were never intended to have shutters but people will stick them on there anyway." https://www.lifeofanarchitect.com/residential-architecture-101-shutters/...See MoreDesperately need shutter color help! Comments (14)Too dark, too light - who knows! Just get some sample paint and LARGE panel at least 4 x 4, maybe several, move them around to different parts of the house, at different times of day. That's the only way you will get any kind of real answer about whether the color scheme works well for y our house or not (and really, that should be main criteria, not whether trendy or not). My concern is more that the proposed colors look way, way too similar to your roof color so for that reason I would take it either lighter, or yes, maybe darker - or maybe some other-blue gray that leans more into blue than gray - ie something that relates nicely to roof color , but is distinctly different....See MoreNeed cabinet color suggestions for new countertop
