Hey Karen:
I can't believe you are procrastinating? I was wondering where you've been hiding.
I would really like your amaryllis seed please. I've actually been WS amaryllis in pots, and leaving them in a more sheltered spot, and they do fantastically well here (and they are hardy in my garden :)
Check my trade list. I would consider your amaryllis a special trade, so feel free to pick a few things from my list if you find anything interesting!

I am interested in your 'Peaches n Dreams' Hollyhock seeds. I have some Heliopsis-variegated with yellow flowers that I got from a trade (20 seeds). I was wondering if you would be interested in a trade. Thanks!

Kinda OT, but I have a question about my WS tomatoes

They'll be fine on top of the yard. Put some thick layers of wet newspaper on top of the grass instead of landscape fabric (It's cheaper, too!) and fill with dirt on top of that. My tomatoes are in raised beds about that height on top of what was lawn, with newspapers originally under the dirt. They have been there for 3 years now, and have done very well. They will get big, deep roots, especially if you grow the larger types. The good news is that if you have red clay under that lawn (like we had in northern VA), I've read that the clay improves their flavor. Finally something good about red clay! One thing about the raised beds--regular tomato cages will absolutely not stand up when the vines get big. The soil is too loose, and the cages don't even do so well in regular dirt. I now have metal fence posts sunk over a foot deep, to which I wire my tomato cages.

Stuff that has always come through for me was disappointing ..echinacea, asters, larkspur ..(I have about 30 two litres with nothing happening)..not giving up, just moved them to the side of the shed where I can't see them. However, I have Catalpa sprouts, datura going like gangbusters, Peruvian corn (grows 15 feet tall, I swiped a cob from a municipal park). Seems like the normally difficult germinators did o.k., and old faithfulls suffered this spring. Just my 2 cents.

Having some issues with WS'ing zinnias- any input?

who is Zen? a person or a practice. I don't have pics, i'll see if I can get some. as to your questions. Yes in full sun,, when there is some. Size about 3/4 inch. Prior conditions: well temps have been swinging up and down. one night I left them out when the night-time forecast was 39, (about a week-ago), I didn't cover them, and that's the first time I had some die. They turn brown, altho still standing. I wasn't entirely surprised, I figured in spite of the forecast, it must have dipped below freezing. Now that you (Ken) have pointed me to prior conditions, I'm wondering if that night weakened them, even tho ones that didn't obviously die. Since that event, it hasn't been any colder than that, it has been 65 one day and then 55 the next.thanks for your questions. I'll try to come back later with a picture.

I have deep purple New England Aster, purple columbine, purple liatris, and two grasses--Indian grass and Big blue stem. I also have Little blue stem, but you said you wanted tall grasses. Check my list for anything else you might like. I don't need trades to be "equal".
