An ornamental cherry to replace a rose-rosette diseased plant?

I have a lovely old Mt. Vernon Purple Noisette rose that is showing signs of RRD-- rose rosette disease, a mite-borne virus that produces "witches' brooms" of uncontrolled, diseased soft growth. I was thinking of replacing it with a yoshino cherry but I read on one horticulture site that it is susceptible to "witches' broom." Does anyone know whether that is from the same cause (mites that cause RRD) or whether it is from a different source? Is "witches' broom" very common in yoshino cherries? Would it be better to plant something else entirely?

Thanks
