Plant Roses with perennials or by themselves?

Every time I see roses they are by themselves. I'm guessing it's so they can be cared for easier and not have to be watered from above with the other perennials. Am I right?

Can I add a rose, say Sunsprite, to my perennial/ daylily garden? Or is it a bad idea.

thanks,

Natanya
