Rouge, will definitely add pics next season when RC comes back established! Perhaps someone can help me on this one. When I bought my first 1g plant a few weeks ago (not the clearance one mentioned above) it was in full bloom from a nursery. I actually hated buying it as such because I know it's been greenhouse grown and pumped up and quite out of sync with the season. But it was the first place I had seen it. Got it home separated into two, sorry patent police. The stems were really woody, as were the roots, more like shrub. Is that how it grows? As I thought, the full blooms turned brown and spent after a few days of being planted. But where I had divided has started pushing up new, fresh growth from the base. I'm now wondering if this new growth will flower later in the season?

Sunnytop, I think you may be right about the east coast thing. I know some of the nurseries around me don't carry that one anymore, but they are carrying newer Veronicas - wonder if they will do better in our area. The garden shops often recommend the salvias instead. I do have one Sunny Border Blue - I just love the color so much. Last year it did turn completely brown and have to be cut to the ground, but this year, so far, it's just blue and beautiful. I'm sure I will have to cut it back eventually, but with the summer we're having, I've had several plants that needed haircuts already. Might try dividing it this fall. Lynn

Hi Kathy. I took six cuttings (though I should have taken many more!) and dipped mine in rooting hormone first then stuck them in an outdoor sandbox to root and kept them moist. They took a little over 2 weeks to start rooting but they didn't develope alot of roots in the propagation box for me like many of other perennials do so I thought they needed more time in the box. Seems like I left them there over a month with not much further root progress so I went ahead and planted them in the garden expecting to lose some. I actually thought all but one of the babies had died in the summer heat but was pleasantly surprised this spring when they all came back and they must have nice big root systems now judging by their sizes. I'm going to try and take alot more cuttings this year so I'll have plenty to share at next year's spring swap. Hope this helps. Squirrellypete
