This looks like a Tea Rose. How large are the blooms? Can we see a close look at a fully-open bloom?

Thank you jeri. House is 30 years old, and can only guess it was planted 20- 30 years ago. Blossoms are clustered and 3". I just hate not knowing my roses .....though not really necessary, i know, if they are as carefree as this one. Appreciate any ideas as to type, if not exact name.....which would be tough, i know.

Well, I do not recognize your rose.

It could be an older Hybrid Tea Rose, or could be a Tea Rose, but it sure is a winner.

Do you know the history of the property? What was there BEFORE the house was built, for instance . . . It's not un-heard of for an older rose to survive the construction of a new home.

I wish you were in Northern CA.
The Celebration Of Old Roses will be held in El Cerrito, on the Sunday AFTER Mother's Day (May 19, this year). They always have a table for "un-known" roses, and one can often get an identification.

If you live in a SoCal place where there is a local Rose Society, you might take blooms to a meeting.

Oh jeri, the old roses celebration sounds wonderful. As for my property, nope, it was all wilderness and coyotes before houses went in about 30 years ago. Well, the coyotes are still here, and so is this very dependable mystery rose bush.

Dang, I was going to guess that. I had GB in my first rose patch 35 years ago.

Ha! Too little, too late, michael. ;>). Here he is in almost August, ignored, overlooked , yet still pumping them out.
