I think it needs something to climb up to or down from. I love this plant and currently have it in a nook in a stone wall. It looks lovely cascading down. Once, years ago, I planted it under a daphne Carol Maackie and it sort of scrambled up the trunk (I have no idea how since it doesn't have any twining apparatus). You might be happier with yours some place other than on a flat spot.

butterclem and triciae, well now, at least they are normal. Like the link said, they/mine crawl toward the shade not the sun. They get perfect lighting conditions where they are on the east side, but while I was processing where in the heck could I move them, I thought of a spot by a rose in the back with a wall built up of a couple blocks of limestone, part sun. That just might look pretty there and if it would cascade over the wall, that would be perfect. That's curious about the climbing; I'm burned out on finding things for my climbing plants right now.

I don't have to move them right now, just got done planting two roses and 2 daylilies, doesn't sound like much but 2 gal pots, enough digging for today lol.

What else could I put where they are now that is blue/purplish/burgundy as a grondcover and different from lamium and not ajuga, don't like the latter? I got a different kind of Campanula from Spring Hill and stuck it in front, will see what that one does and maybe get some more of that if I like it. It said blue, bet it's going to be another lavender. Maybe I can even divide that one.

I don't know what I'm going to do about the 2 Grus, will leave them be and give them one more year, sometimes it takes 3 years, need 2 roses just a little more robust and shade tolerant for there but not too tall and wide.

I've been asking about iris just lately, so maybe I'll take all that out and see if iris will get enough sun there.

Have you thought about plumbago for a groundcover? It's truly sky blue, and the leaves turn red in the autumn. There is an annual plumbago, too, so you need to make sure you get the perennial one. I've included a link to a nursery selling perennial plumbago. I don't know the nursery; it just popped up on a Google search.

It's normal for Blue Waterfall to crawl along the ground like that. Campanula Blue Clips might be closer to what you looking for but it is purple, not blue. In plants, blue really means purple or lavender. Purple means magenta. Lavender is sometimes pink. If you want real blue, there only a few flowers including plumbago, blue bells, and blue delphiniums.

The nice thing about Blue Waterfall is that it goes back to its little clump once it is done flowering. It doesn't get wide or spread very much for me other than the flowering parts.

Since my house is now painted a blue, I'm seeking true blue flowers, and it is annoying. To me if a vendor says blue, that means blue. But I can live with the lavender. And if it ain't broke (referring to my Blue Waterfall), better not try to fix it :-). Thanks for the comment that it will stay in its original clump which I can live with and even the crawling is pretty now that I know that is their habit. Same with the newer one, if it forms a nice mound, I'll be happy to have it there, whatever "blue" it turns out to be.

So far I have lots of true blue alliums blooming, scattered throughout the front beds, and so happy with them unless they multiply like rabbits in which case I'll deal with it. Some iris are true blue of one shade or another. Some violas are true blue, that flax Vera plants sure looks like blue, and so on. There is an aster that is true blue, but I don't care for it. I've got lots of annual salvia that is supposed to be true blue, but I'm bracing for a disappointment on that one, Blue Crystal. The other one from another vendor, is called Blue Ribbon, but they say in the description that it is lavender. It wouldn't be that big a deal, but in trying all these, I'm going to end up with a lot of lavender and purples, some I do want that way, yes.

I grow a few varieties of clematis and am afraid to order some because the photo looks blue, but they are really some shade of purple. Some do advertise as purple, and knowing that, if I want purple, I order it. Rooguchi has just a hint of purple, but is mainly blue and a real show stopper in front. The buds are true navy blue.

Of course I have many other colors going, too, want the variety.

Oh yes, I bought a cheapie $5+ plumbago at Wal Mart last year, have it in a 5 gal pot now, it went crazy in the sunroom over the winter so I cut it way back so the top would fill out which it is. They won't overwinter here outside even though the tag said otherwise and I could get my money back if I saved the receipt which I did. The tag also said 20 degrees. Heh. But the leaves turned yellow by late last summer so I did some frantic research. So far a little diluted miracid and periodic Osmocote have done wonders.

Forgot forget-me-not, true blue and am growing two different kinds, hope the seeds for the chinese one germinate.

Well, it just started raining again, and there are major floods in my state, really sad for people in affected areas because usually by now they are over. It has relieved me of a lot of watering which last year was about all I could keep up with starting in June, but caused other probs. That's enough for now.

True blue flowers are the rarest. Could you emphasize the blue of your house with a contrasting color, instead?
The truest blues I have seen are some of the most difficult plants to sustain, in our climate. Blue poppies and gentians and Corydalis are examples. For a few weeks you could get true blue from Heavenly Blue Morning Glories and forget-me-nots, but almost every other flower sold as 'blue' is blue-violet.
I remember reading a book written by a woman who, I am sure, was an expert. She said 'Posch is bosh'. I guess she did not like the way the plant sprawls. I do.

Balloon flower is true blue, and extremely easy. Not the most graceful plant in the world, but very, very blue and has a long flowering period. Peach leaf bellflower (campanula persicifolia) is also a true blue. Both are quite a bit bigger than the C. poscharskyana, though.

Don't agree about the peach-leaved bellflower or balloon flower being true blue, although they are very blue-violet. Compared to heavenly blue morning glory they are quite violet. I grow them both and enjoy them also.
My Idea of true blue is the morning glory mentioned and Meconopsis.

I forgot about morning glories and love that Mencopsis but believe it is tricky to grow.

As to emphasizing the house, it doesn't look too bad with things the way they are, all sorts of colors and lots of roses and perennials lining the front walkway.

I'm hoping the purple poppies I got from a lily site will bloom and self seed and hope the daisies are blooming at the same time.

I don't have to have everything blue. I forgot I've got two porch boxes with blue lobelia with a few white scattered in.

My Pat Austin rose which is a beautiful apricot/salmon color is nice, also any shade of burgundy. Also have quite a bit of yellow which is my favorite color, and am going for just one bed on the side in red white and blue. I think I'll stick in a couple extra trellises in there and plant some big Heavenly blue no they need lots of sun, darn. I had some volunteers growing by the wall of the porch in front and got them climbing my iron porch rails but don't want that again. They got out of control and a tangled mess, were still looking for anything to climb on.

One year I had them spilling over an old milk can which was pretty, but a guy who did some edging for me near there whacked them. I was sick about it because it made me feel good to look at them.

Even if there was a true blue rose, I wouldn't want it because it would look unnatural. But the spot where I took the photo with the campanula, behind it is the brick fireplace wall where I have a Veilchenblau rose climbing. It looks nice from the street but is supposed to be purple but it's more pink, kind of disappointing but I'll keep it.

Hydrangeas are true blue shrubs. There are not a lot of true blues. I googled true blue flowers and wish I saved the link. It was written very well with pictures, descriptions, pro’s con’s, and best places to purchase. She mentioned to beware when purchasing blue flowers because said could be a false claim so she listed under each plant several reputable greenhouse companies that you will be sure to get the real flower, especially if starting from seed, I remember Dave’s seeds as one mentioned. There were others where you can buy a live plant. Hope this helps. And there are no real blue roses. They do not have an enzyme or something that is required for blue. They extracted the blue pigment from a pansy and created the “first blue rose”. In my opinion along with many othets the Rose is a silvery lavender. It’s a great accomplishment which must of taken years of work but I don’t think it it deserves to be the first blue rose. Hopefully, one of these days we will see a true blue rose along with other flowers. An other suggestion would be annual lobelia for ground/sprawling, it’s more of a cobalt blue somewhat similar plumbago. I have plumbago and a picture of it. Sciabosa also is blue but more of a lavenderish, similar to blue waterfall which I also have and like the color the best out of the campanula varieties I have.... Oh, another shade cover with blue flowers in the spring is Jack Frost which you could plant muscari with along with other bulbs. I purchased a Dahlia called Blue Bell . Will keep you posted if it is really blue..
