Has anyone seen the ads for the Recharge Mower? We recently got one and I've got to say, it's fantastic. I've been using it for a couple weeks now and I'm just amazed how great it is.

I'd looked at a few different mowers and had kind of given up. I was being particularly picky about what I wanted and what I was seeing just wasn't matching up. I needed a machine with a large seat because I'm a bigger man. I wanted something that was comfortable to ride. I wanted something that was going to last and would require very little maintenance. And I really wanted something that was able to fit into smaller spaces(I live on an older plot of land, the gates are an older style and there were a few awkward spots in the back to maneuver through). I also wanted something environmentally friendly, as going green is something really important to me and my family.

After spending a few months looking at what was out there, I felt defeated...and then I saw the commercial for the Recharge Mower!

Much to my surprise, the commercial hit everything I was looking for. So I ordered it...and I've not looked back since.

The seat and ride are like no mower I've ever used before. It's comfortable and makes cutting the lawn a breeze. Plus it has 5 different settings making it easy to adjust the length. My yard looks like a putting green. It's amazing.

With no moving parts, the machine requires almost no maintenance. No sparkplugs, no oil. Nothing. Just have to check the blades after the winter.

It's the size of a traditional riding mower but the blades are smaller in length making it easier to get around those difficult spots, not to mentioned easily getting from the front yard to the back.

Now the big thing: was it environmentally sound? And the answer is a resounding YES! The Recharge Mower is battery operated. It runs on rechargeable batteries, so there are no emissions. On a single charge, it can run for about 3 hours. After the battery is charged, I simply plug it in and let it charge overnight. The best part of all: for a full charge it only costs me about 50ÃÂ¢. I usually get 2 full cuts out of that. 50ÃÂ¢ to cut my lawn...twice. It is really impressive.

Because there's no motor, it's really quiet. I've cut the lawn early in the morning and none of my neighbors have said a thing. One even told me her Granddaughter slept while I cut the grass right outside her window.

I'm really in love with this machine. If you're in the market for a new mower, take a look at it. I think you'll be equally impressed!

Well, I've got to say, "SPAMtastic".
I found it to have an infomercial scent. But I'm intrigued by several comments: ***"no moving parts"***
Huh?? (Maybe it uses a laser to slice the grass!)

Oh, there are emmissions. You just have to go down to the coal burning utility generator complex to observe them.

And then after the second charge, you just plug it in again and let it charge overnight again?? Sounds like all you do is keep this thing plugged in all the time.

Good, good. Psychologists across the land are setting out to define, study, and treat, this new disorder. Already, they are calling it "Mechanophilia". And (as expected), politicians and lawyers are drafting legislation to make it legal for a person to marry their lawn mower (consenting adults only).

Well, that depends on how confident you are in your charger and timer. I use both the Battery Minder and Battery Tender Jr's in my world and have confidence in them both. Failures could be costly however. I would not have the same confidence in my standard chargers, but does that mean that my confidence in the others is misplaced- I dunno. If I were leaving for the winter, I think the best piece of mind would be to leave it unplugged. The battery should be fine anyways. If your battery isn't nurtured to its fullest and it dies a year sooner- you aren't out much.

As with any lead-acid battery, (yes, even the one in your car), never totally discharge it, as that will shorten the life of the battery. I would charge it right after using it. And if you can, put it on a maintenance, (trickle), charge, which is one-tenth the amp hour capacity of the batt. What does the mower manual say to do?

An electric clutch shouldn't draw more than 3-4 AMP. IF you have an ammeter, you could put it in series to see how many amps it's drawing. IF you have a DVM, the clutch resistance should be 2.4 to 2.9 Ohms.

Hi, Thanks for everything you guys have given me. I just measured the voltage and it came up as 12.78v. Should I measure the amperage? Upon visual inspection I noticed that the cable end that attaches to the + battery terminal is completely rusty, but it is a heavy duty cable. I also noticed that the a small thin red cable that also connects to the + battery cable is really rusty also. I looked at an online manual for my mower and it said the cable goes to a circuit breaker?? I would have hoped that the circuit breaker would have prevented sparks and smoking of the battery. I also noted that the "circuit breaker" is really rusted as well as the device beneath it that the heavy duty battery cable connects to. Any new help would be appreciated. I know I need to get a new battery cable, but should I also get a new circuit breaker and the device that the + battery cable connects to? Anyway to check if these devices are bad? Since the battery is still holding a good charge I hope this means it is not going to blow up or explode if I hook a new cable to it? Thanks, Brian

Isn't it amazing how we're supposed to find credibility in someone that just registers today and their first post is SPAM! Where's the Worx GT thread. That must have had 50 people attest to it. They all registered the same days as their "testimony".

By no motor they mean no engine. The company web site clearly states it has three 900 watt motors. (1 drive and 2 deck motors.
Anyway it's just an electric rider. No big secret here. My neighbor has a John Deere electric that is similar in design and size that mows great. They have been around since the 70s. The problem I have is the goofy spam-like infomercial post.

It only cuts grass with the rear bagger installed. That would be a deal breaker for me since the garbage haulers dont take clippings in my parts.

Right you are sir! Even though "we" seem to be comfortable in substituting the term "motor" for the term "engine" in colloquial speech, the terms are not "equivalent". Can anybody help me out here?

I've read discussions about this and could be that Wikipedia could shed more light. But the gist was an engine was said to be a self-producing power source...as long as you had some type of liquid, solid or gaseous fuel supply. And a motor required a separate power source, such as a hydraulic or pneumatic pump unit, or electric power generating plant to make it operate. Of course this is kind of playing with semantics and it was pointed out that Detroit auto engineers and auto periodical writers routinely interchanged the two terms. So there was no resolution in that particular discussion.

Hi rechargebob !

Wow... this thing looks really well built. I love the copious amounts of plastic - ensuring that it wont rust when tossed into your local land fills or junkyard.

I guess i could connect an electric log splitter to the electric PTO - correct ?

That front bumper guard looks pretty stout as well.

Its always nice to see another product from China - that pleases me to no end too!!

I wonder if I could get a plow blade for it.

Do you think I could pull a cart full of firewood ?

I think Ive found a replacement for my 444 ingersoll...

larso, you are the first contestant to answer correctly. And of course, it is absolutely playing with semantics. After all, you don't think I believe all the "Motor Oil" in the stores is for electric motors, do you? The only time I ever saw "Engine lube oil" actually packaged that way was back in the 1970s when I worked for International Harvester. IHC always had their own branded "motor oil" (and other lubricants and antifreeze). In 1975, IHC "reworked and revamped" their "house brand" engine lube oil family to the "low ash" formula that was purported to help gasoline engines meet the ever more stringent EPA emissions standards. IHC discontinued using "paper with metal end" quart and gallon containers. The new "Engine Lube Oil" was packed in all metal (steel) quart and gallon "cans", and for the first time ever, IHC offered a "five gallon can" of oil. Oh, while IHC was making an attempt to be "PC" about "engine oil", The company division I was affiliated with was known as "International Harvester, MOTOR Truck Division". Go figure!

about all this thing needs is solar recharge panels and it'd qualify for a federal rebate or tax break.
