Comments (37)By the way, if one goes to the Lawn & Garden Tractors Forum on the website, the Kohler discussion thread comes up. So (1) posting on an old discussion DOES NOT allocate it to the string ball of threads, (2) in fact it reinserts that thread onto the active file and (3) cpmsequently it appears on the current list of âÂÂOn topicâ discussions. (Curious category, one wonders if we still belong). Therefore, with the GardenWeb way of doing things, my posting (a) made it easy for everyone to locate the earlier discussions. It also (b) enhanced retention and retrieval of earlier useful comments, (c) retains the name of the original poster and creator of the thread, and (d) consequently it may bring others with experiences to offer into the discussion. Not bad for an eveningâÂÂs work. For guys like me, "Newbies" seems to be the operative term, which does seem unnecessarily condescending and not overly complementary. For example, I may be the oldest one on the thread, and certainly my mower is among the oldest. The first, but probably not the second, also applies to using (and fighting with, and yes trying to mind read the designers of) lawnmowers. Must I really be thought of as a âÂÂnewbieâÂÂ, canâÂÂt I just be âÂÂone of the guysâÂÂ?...See MoreCraftsman stall problem
Comments (8)Carb. gummed up IMO, first try to un-gum by spraying Carb. cleaner down the Carb. venturi when the engine is running a least half throttle. Be careful and not let it drip on the muffler. Any questions about using carb. cleaner read the label on the can. It will cause the engine to bog down, just let it catch back up before you spray again, do this several times and add some gas additive to the tank Concentrate works best. Using the nozzle try to put it over any small passages you see inside the carb. venturi. This will loosen or blow out any gum. If that fails you may have to take the carb. off and disassemble it clean all the passages (especially the small ones) But, usually the spraying the carb. while the engine is running usually does the trick. You may have to readjust after the cleaning, a dirty carb. leans it out due to passages on flowing the right amount of gas. I would also remove the plugs, inspect, clean, and check gap....See MoreCraftsman Tractor Stalls Out
Comments (2)Does the oil level seem hard to read or is that fine now and set to full? Anything else seem abnormal? You could be looking at a fuel system issue if it seems to be starving for fuel. Likely causes in this case could be a plugged vent hole in the fuel cap or water/ debris in the system. If that isn't really what you are experiencing, it could be possible to have other issues- like a seat switch maybe. To start, you need to have the brake engaged, but once the brake is released- the operator must be on the seat. If you lift off the seat it would instantly die. Check it out and post what you find. Be descriptive and also give us engine and chassis 917# model #s....See Morethebolensman
