Cherry Germination Success!

lamentations

After years of failure, I've gotten cherry pits to germinate.

These are from store bought cherries.

Soon after eating the fruit, I planted the pits 1 dia. deep in potting soil in trays.

I wet the soil, wrapped the trays in plastic grocery bags, & put them in the fridge crisper.

(This was last summer).

I checked them the other day & they have started germinating.

I realize that the fruit will not be sweet cherries, but I'm going to leave them for the birds anyways.
