New Tractor

Well I just ordered up the Ariens A20BH42-c from Home Depot. Guess it will be here in a couple of weeks so I have a few questions.

For anyone who bought this from HD and had it delivered-

1- Am I going to need a couple quarts of oil or does it come shipped with oil?

2- I figure this comes strapped down on a pallet with cardboard covering it, best way to be ready to open the crate, pliers, razor knife or ???

3- Pretty sure the truck driver will just get it off the liftgate and we probably will not be able to roll it into the driveway in the crate (gravel drive) so I am asking so I can have everything ready to uncrate and get it off the street ASAP.

4- I am thinking it may not be a bad idea to add some 'slime' to all the tires before the first use, any idea if these are tube or tubeless on these? Have a compressor so no worrys being able to re-inflate the tires.

5- If one of the current owners of one of these could post a S/N (feel free to change last digit) then I could download the service manual before the tractor arrives, Ariens has downloads but asks for the S/N. Or perhaps someone can post a link elsewhere for the service manual.

By the way Ariens has verified that these are assembled in Orangburg SC by Husqvarna, I am still waiting for Husqvarna to see if the front scoop attachment is compatable (direct bolt on) or if they use a different frame than the Husqvarna & Craftsman models.

Congrats on your purchase! Here is a link to the manual (got it from Home Depot's site). Quite often they will have free manuals for products when no one else does.

Thanks that is the operators manual, already have that I am looking for the service & parts manuals still.

I don't expect either will come with the tractor but I may have to wait to see. Might be a quirk I have but I do like to have all the documents on things so I have part numbers, wiring diagrams and the right name of things if I need a spare part. Better to call and say I need a P/N 30-50-xxx than that thing-a-majig that is to the left of the gee-gaw.

Fris: Welcome to the Forum ! From what the more knowledgeable Members of the Forum advise Simplicity makes a Very Good Snowblower. I would assume they have the same capability within Garden Tractor's . Since you were at least a Motor-Cycle Enthusiast if not an Avid Biker lol you probably gave it a thorough inspection . I have a small lawn (about a 1/2 acre ) but it's on a fairly steep hill. I've been using a Cub Cadet model 2155 that's starting to use oil.Rather than goof around and rebuild the engine only to have something else break down the line I opted for a new tractor.I wanted something with a limited slip rear end. The Simplicity not only has that but it also has a feature that locks the rear end.I also need the tractor for pulling a Cyclone Rake. The deal I found was a dealer demo with 20 hrs. on it. Full 2 year warranty ready to go for $4800. The closest thing I could find in a new one with the same stuff was $6800.

The X534 are excellent tractors. Not as far as lanscaping. Ii will use a Dozer blade,40inch JD shovel,Johnny Bucket slip bucket and can take a integral hitch(sleeve hitch) and can use and sleeve hitch implement. But it cannot use the 30inch mechanical tiller or 42inch hydraulic tiller. You can use either the 44inch or 47inch snowblower with it. It is not advertised by deere but the 44inch snowblower can be used on it as well. The X534 can also take a 42inch mowing deck only thing is diff/lock pedal needs to be removed but can be put back on in winter or using it for earth moving projects. and of coarse with 48inch or 54inch deck the diff/lock pedal can stay on year round. They only thing I don't like about the X534 are the lack of the use of a tiller. But if you had wheel spacer's made I'm told a tiller would work on it as well. I don't personally own one but the Wife and I looked at replacing here Cub Cadet 2206 with one when they first came out with the X534 I own sevral other Deere's including a 2003 X485 which is the same as todays X720. I think you will really like the X534 for you intended purposes. Good luck and happy Deere hunting.

Haha, funny Rusty. I should add to my original statement... If money wasn't a concern, I would hire people to do everything and would drink wine while I watched them. If money was only a minor concern, I would buy all the equipment I needed. Neither of these apply, unfortunately.

Many ,many years ago I had a Craftsman delivered to my home.
The driver had a small delivery van so he dropped it off right in front of my shop.
This "curb side delivery" is just another rip-off the shipping companies use to save money.
The tractor came in a wooden and cardboard crate so you might need a good set of metal shears to cut the bands.
The tractor came with no fluids and the steering had to be mounted.
The tires were inflated to the max to reduce movement inside the crate.
It might be a good idea to start reading about adjusting the deck.
After the tires are correctly inflated you can adjust the deck and charge the battery.
Don't worry about adding the oil , there will be plenty of tags all over the tractor to remind you.
The first thing that I would buy is a good hour meter if the tractor doesn't have one.
Remember WIPE don't WASH...your tractor will love you for it.

Yup, I understand that at least exploded view(s) and parts lists would be really helpful. After your reply, took a closer look at the manual and was surprised that there is neither parts or a parts list in the manual. You can also find the Sears/Husq equivalent and DL that manual for those views.
