Martha's V had no blackspot, it had. . .

On a no-spray thread a while back, Olga said 'Martha's Vineyard' had bad blackspot for her; I said it had done well in a public no-spray garden here, but I would go see. At first glance I didn't find the plant. Then I realized that the non-rose thing in the vicinity was a rose that had turned into a little monster, 100% witches' brooms with elongated leaflets turned upward and bristly red lumps trying to become flower buds.

Obviously an old case of RRD. It was a chore to dig up with thick 6' horizontal roots, but fortunately not very deep roots. The top had shrunk from maybe 5 x 7' to 3 x 3'.

But no blackspot ;)
