Simplicity Broadmoor Good Deal?

Went to dealer this morning to take another look at the Regents and Snapper lt200. Dealer had a new 2006 model Broadmoor with an 18hp Kohler Command and 44" deck for $2999.00. Sounds like a good deal to me but wanted to get you guys advice.

Since the lowest price of a new Broadmoor is over 4K , I'd say that is a very good deal !

Can anyone comment on the difference between the Broadmoor and the Regent. I know the only thing I would lose is the tight turning radius. There are alot of advantages though. I really think the Broadmoor would easily be a 20 or 30 year machine at my useage time per year. Any input would be appreciated.

They were a good quality entry level LT. Look at this like you would a used car. If it appears used up, has abnormal noises, deck rust, a not real positive feeling transmission then pass. If maintenance has recently been done IE oil, blades, belts filters etc look in great shape that is a plus. It can also be a good bargaining chip. The rider could be worth $500, but if it $200-300 in maintenance or repairs- not so much. It is real good idea to start it cold and warm it up good going through the paces so to speak. BTW the first 2 digits of the engine's code number will indicate the year of production. IE Code 95002341 would be a 1995.

You're on the right track looking for the reverse position switch. Those are the classic symptoms of a mower that "thinks" it's in reverse. It won't be the key activation switch. I suspect that the switch is activated by the reverse pedal position, and is probably jammed into the actuated position by something, dried grass, or a broken twig, or maybe just a bent actuator arm, etc. steve

If it runs and operates OK, I'd have to say yah, it's more than worth that. It should do what you want without any problem, say you use it three years and blow the motor or something bad(hope not) happens, it's still not a bad deal. If you're mechanically inclined great, if not find someone who is and ask them to look it over. I've bought some darn good garden tractors cheap because someone just didn't want to fool with fixing it. New paint, tires, and battery maybe a little tinkering and I've got a like new tractor!

The Broadmoor is built on the same Frame as the Conquest and Prestige Yard and Garden Tractor's. Simplicities Markerting for the Broadmoor is Lawn tractor with a Garden Tractors Heart.

I have an older Broadmoor tractor, and it came to me as a broken gift. I installed another engine, and i use it to mow my large yards. Seems stable, not "tippy" on slopes. It had a 14 hp Kohler, but the owners kids didn't feel that they should have to mow the grass, so they drained out the oil, and then ran it until it went "BANG", and died of a broken heart.
I like it, as i have slopes that i mow across, and it seems stable on them. I installed an older B&S 12 hp engine, of unknown vintage, and it never fazed it. A good investment, i'd say!

$2999 is a good deal...see if he'll take a couple of hundred more off seeing it's sat around for 2 years. No harm in asking. I paid $3250 for mine in 2006. The Broadmoor with the 18 HP Kohler is a great tractor. Mine has done everything I've asked of it.
$2999 is a decent deal compared to the price of a 2008 though.
