Comments (11)That's my problem Patann. I love my trees. Well, we have a love-hate relationship anyway. The Maples are huge and beautiful. My yard would be far less enjoyable without them... but I wish they weren't bullies. I had a Black Thorn Locust (at least I think that's what it was called?) at my last house. It was gorgeous, smelled great, and didn't have invasive roots, but man did that thing send off the fastest growing babies ever! In fact, we pulled one up and planted it in my sister's yard about 6 years ago. It's at least 20' tall now! Those things would be EVERYWHERE and huge before you'd know it. Not to mention it had EVIL thorns and didn't provide much real shade. Everything has a bad side. I'll take problem trees over no trees anyday! Someone remind me that I said that later when I'm standing in the yard yelling hateful things at the trees that keep murdering any blue hosta I think about putting in the ground....See Moremaple tree roots in garden
Comments (1)I also have a maple tree close to my gardens. I just chop the roots when I see them. I haven't had any problems growing in the area where the roots were. I don't know if that is the best answer or not. James...See Moremaple tree roots
