I don't know the oil pressure specs on this engine (yet), but I do have a couple of things to comment on. Are you intending to install a "manual" gauge or an electric gauge? With a manual gauge an oil line must be run from the oil pressure port on the engine to wherever you mount the gauge. If you use an electric gauge, you cannot use the OEM oil light switch (sending unit) to operate the gauge, you must install a pressure sensor unit that matches the gauge you intend to install. You also must make certain that the electric gauge package you buy has a "built in constant voltage regulator". This is required so that your electric gauge doesn't register a drop in oil pressure if your electrical system voltage drops when an electrical load is added to it (e.g., PTO or lights). Another thing about oil pressure......keep the engine RPM up. Engine speed = oil pump speed.....oil pump speed = pressure AND volume. A heavy load on the crankshaft (uphill) combined with low engine RPM can result in the oil being "mashed out" of the crank and rod bearings because the oil pump isn't delivering it's highest volume. As engines age and wear they become more susceptible to low RPM/high loading damage. I'm sure someone on this forum will be able to give you the Kohler specs on the oil pressure. I just wanted you to know that there are some other details about adding an oil pressure gauge that you might not have been aware of.

I have a 25 h.p. Kohler Command OHV V twin in a Cub Cadet GT3200 that i have installed a " mechanical " type oil pressure gauge on. It carries between 45 to 50 psi of pressure, this is at WOT, ( wide open throttle )with the engine at operating temp.( Stewart Warner 0-100 gauge )

I installed an oil pressure guage on my 18 hp briggs and it usually hovers around 25 to 30 psi.

On page 216 of the Kohler service manual for the Command Pro CV26 engine it states in narrative about testing after rebuild that the oil pressure should be a minimum of 20 PSI at idle RPM. I would guess that at WOT it could rise to 40-45 PSI, but Kohler does not state the maximum oil pressure anywhere in their manual. It is safe to say that a gauge with a range of 0-60 PSI would be OK. A gauge with range of 0-100 PSI is OK too, it's just that the bigger scale gauge would be a bit less specific as to what the indicated pressure is when you glance at it quickly. You could cut a very narrow slice of red (or your favorite color) pin striping tape or the equivalent and place this on the gauge face as the lowest limit you would like to see the pressure drop to and use that "red line" as your quick look marker. Just a thought.

I have used that (or similar ways) to mark a reference point on gauges or monitors that can only be afforded a quick glance while you are otherwise busy operating a machine. I always liked the pin stripe tape cause it's narrow, it sticks well, it can be removed (good if you're using it on shop test meters where the desired reference point is subject to change with different applications) and if you use it as a permanent mark it looks apt.

you would think the psi is consistent throughout the system, therefore I could tie in lets say at the oil cooler and still get the same reading as I would at the pump... right?

While adding an oil pressure gauge may be interesting, take care in routing any oil pressure tubing so that a tree branch does not catch. An oil pressure switch that grounds the ignition would probably provide the protection you desire. Your hills would need to really be steep to loose oil pressure.
