why I love Ashdown - and a new garden

I have an order coming any day now, for six roses that were my layaway order. I received an email letting me know that one of them isn't ready yet, they'll send it later, so pick a free one! wow. That will make 21 roses in pots on my deck....Ok,the pot ghetto gotta go....

and - solution!

While sitting around immobile waiting for a minor surgery on my foot to heal, I have had time to stare at a grassy slope, an irregular triangle with two legs of 30' and the third side a long curve abutting the granite slabs that make up my "side walk". They are spaced, with grass between, to look kinda like little ledges. That grassy slope is hard to mow because of the frequent turns and the grade.

I have called the young woman who has helped with heavy forsythia pruning and bed edging for the last two years - she and her husband are coming on Monday afternoon to help plan the hardscape - I am turning the slope into a rose garden!!!

I am calling it my own Local Economic Stimulus package.
