Moved roses.....question please.....

I had to move my 2 graham thomas (this is its 3rd year) and 2 golden celebrations because a tree fell on them and the arbor they were growing on. They didn't suffer any damage, but the arbor was toast. So I moved them into my front flower bed and decided to put New Dawn on the new arbor. My question is ...Should I or could I even prune GT back quite a bit. It grew very lanky up the arbor (about 6 ft.) and it is kind of tall for the spot it is in now. I was wondering if I pruned them back by half or so, maybe they might grow bushier instead of climbing. What do you all think. The spot I moved it too gets morning sun, afternoon shade and some evening sun. I think it will like it there. But I was wondering since I just moved it, should I wait before I prune it back, or would it do more harm than good and just wait til fall to prune back? I am not sure what to do...any suggestions?

Thank you,

Mary
