Stay away from the fertilizer....and if the pot is very well drained, water often...and keep the pots in the shade for a couple of weeks.
They are suffering transplant shock and need nothing but shade and water.

Rozanne always droops for me after a move - even if I haven't split it up. I would expect her to perk up in a day or two. I wouldn't overwater her, one good drink at transplanting time and wait. Expect her to need some supplemental watering for awhile after transplanting, but be cautious, don't water much unless it gets hot which is not the case here at this time.

I also never fertilize when moving things, although I may improve the soil some, or in the case of some things that don't like heavy rich soil, thin it down some with gravel or Profile.

As for the campanulas I can't help you much. They generally hate my wettish yard.

Are your campanulas large nursery plants? These are usually much bigger than home grown in the garden plants at this time of the year. Did you acclimate them to the outdoors for a week or so before planting them out? We're still pretty cold here at night, and although the perennials are cold hardy, if they have been sitting inside or partially inside in a protected area of the nursery, they can take a hit when abruptly moved outside into the cold. Bigger plants & plants in bloom often look awful after transplanting. They may take some time to adjust. Just thoughts, don't know if they fit or not. Again, I would wait & see for awhile. Don't panic. It's still very early in the season. Best wishes.

When moving established plants, I have had excellent results by putting them in pots, keeping them very wet and in the shade for a few weeks before replanting them in the ground. I've moved plants in July in 100 degree temps this way. If the plant really wilts you can submerge the whole thing pot and all in a bucket of water. In your case I would continue to water, keep the ground wet for a while and water the foliage. Put something like a lawn chair over the plants for shade but make sure they have good air circulation. As a last resort cut back some foliage to reduce water loss thru the leaves. Good luck.

Balloon flowers always pitch a fit for a while after I move them. Fortunately, I think I have them where I want them for now. They're harder to move because they have a tap root...the long white thing. I would clip them back a bit, if they're very big, and keep them watered.

I dig lots of balloon flowers for an annual plant sale and because they have only the straight carrot like root, they do resent digging unless it is just as they are showing in the Spring. If they are over 6 inches tall, I clip some back to compensate for the root loss and they usually recover in a week. Mary

Try to rig some shade cover. I moved a large corsican hellebore recently, the day before our 70 temps spiked to the high 90s. Also moved a Salvia guarantica at the same time. For the salvia, I rigged an umbrella clamped to a bottomless wrought iron chair, and for the hellebore, I propped a garbage can lid against it. They both are doing fine now, with temps back to normal for this time of year. For the tap-rooted balloon plants, it might be more problematic. Fibrous-rooted plants are easier to move than the tap-rooted kind.

Thank you all for your advice. The balloons are looking like someone sucked the life out of them. So is the campanula. Maybe I was watering them too much each day. Today I will lay off and hope for the best. Tomorrow is supposed to be around 80. The nights have been cool so I hope they make it. How often should I water them and 2 new Miss Kim Lilacs that are about 2 ft tall. They look fine for now but not sure how often to water after transplanting. Also how often would you water a mulched cedar barrel w/a new Alberta Dwarf Spruce and several New Guinea Impatiens in it? It is hard for me to guage watering. I don't want to drown the poor things.

Can you shade the plant by surrounding it with something that casts a shadow for a few weeks? I use potted plants that I haven't put in the ground yet to surround my primroses when I divide them, because by the time I divide them, it is getting hot up here.

Another method would be to take the plants out of the garden, pot them up and put them in semi shade until the roots recover, and then replant them in a few weeks.

If your pots are very well drained....you would be hard pressed to water them too much...They have limited root mass and need to be able to take up water through that reduced root mass.
As long as your soil in the pots is loose and drains well....pour on the water.... they don't want to sit in a puddle but need constantly moist soil until they perk up..
