If you ask for help. . .

Look at things from your respondants point of view. Multiple posts, lack of acknowledgement of following a certain procedure, etc. I certainly am not a know it all of of everything lawn and garden. I like to help as many of the regular posters do. There are many talented people on here. If you are really looking for help- folks seeking help should at least acknowledge if they have have performed the suggestions from the respondants- or question if they need more info. This happens time and again and I don't mean to pick anyone specifically. There are many helpful people on this board- please utilize their talents.

I agree 100% with your post but the reality is that most people ask a question, get their answer, and they continue on with their business.

I realized this a long time ago. If you spend your personal time to help others, don't expect even a simple "Thank-You". I help folks because I have been very fortunate in life and like to give something back. Whether those helped recognize my effort or not is their option. Usually they don't.

I'm not bashing anyone. That's simply reality.

Well I appreciate all the stuff you guys write. I always learn something when there's a long discussion on some problem or question. Sometimes I'll try to post an answer to a question just because I figure all the smart guys are busy.

Mirrors should be a big duh. But have you ever tried to take a photo of a print or photo you have framed and under glass? It's virtually impossible to not pick up a reflection. We don't notice it ordinarily, but the camera sees things we don't realize. Funny how that works. Pal, did you send a message to the gal behind the camera? Hahaha, sometimes we wonder if a poster is male or female. This is one way to remove all doubt (transitioning transgenders excepted).

The little scars could be abrasions or mechanical damage as Rina has stated. Could also be from little critters coming by and snacking on your plant. The little pimple dots could be oedema. From the Missouri Botanical Garden: "Oedema is a physiological disorder that develops when roots take up water faster than it can be used by the plant or transpired through the leaves. Water pressure builds up in the internal cells of the leaves causing them to burst, leaving dead cells that are visible as a blister, primarily on the undersides of leaves. Oedema may also be spelled edema." You're from Florida so moisture could be an issue. The next thing I see is on the last pic, right side plant. There is a waviness in the new growth. I see that when I get meallybugs. They suck the juice from the center growth and the new growth is deformed. Sometimes the deformity is small and other times the malformation is very noticeable. I'm not saying you have mealies. There are other sapsuckers out there. Has this plant had mealies? Have you just tried spraying the center or dabbing the center with plain rubbing alcohol? If you do this keep out of the sun for a few days. This plant had meallybugs, but I treated with rubbing alcohol a few times. See how the old growth is wavy and malformed, but the new growth is normal. Honestly your plant looks fine. It’s hard keeping them perfect looking. Especially when they’re outside in the elements.

It's always nice to know if the problem is fixed and if one had some input in the fix.
Sometimes we can't help. Sometimes we learn of a solution that had never occurred to us. Feedback helps us all to learn!

And post the engine, model or whatever NUMBERS!

All valid points guys! It's nice to know when you read a follow up post about a successful repair. What I appreciate is that there is so many of the people here have had or have the same model equipment the question is being asked about, and they like most here, have done all the major wrenching to the machine, and they can provide you usually with enough helpful tips to make a repair and keep it out of the $50 per hour repair shops. I like most here, take my power equipment as a very serious hobby, and once people find out about it, i get ALOT of, "HEY I GOT THIS, AND WAS WONDERING IF"..... You all know what I mean! I highly enjoy it though! I really love to see pics of all the resto projects! This is a GREAT site!

Actually, I thinking along the lines of the posters that seem to miss half the info from respondants and are not clear on what they have done. Seeking advise certainly doesn't mean that you have to take all or even any of it. I typically read through them like a conversation. SOmetimes, tho it appears that a few pieces seem to fall from the picture. IE "Did you try what Bill said or didn't you? And if you didn't the reasoning was? " Any reponse is better than leaving the respondants to guess what is really happening. " My valve stem is on top- but the tire is only flat on the bottom-so I'm sure it won't help." I'm sure that good problem solving skills stretch when applied to an open forum.

It is always good to know that a person resolved their situation and how they did it. Might even help the next guy by accident. Kind words and thank yous are nice too, but not really what my original rant was about.
