Have a lot of brown stuff

Ok, I have a lot of papers to shred and pine shavings from new chickens to go in my compost pile. I don't have much green stuff though except for the occasional kitchen scraps that I'm not already giving to my worm. Will my pile break down ok? I have thrown a couple handfuls of 3 year old horse manure in it. Will the chicken manure and the occasional kitchen scraps be enough green for it?

A high C:N ratio pile will break down, might not heat up, but it will break down. There are many practioners of the cool/slow method, it works just fine.

THe best thing about browns is they usually don't stink. In fall I pile up most of my gathered leaves and add the greens as they come. If the pile gets smelly I have some extra browns to toss on and get the right mixture. Go Browns!!!
