I have one in my HFGH. My house is set up for starting bedding plants so I have shelves along each side so it doesn't get in the way for me. You can see my original installation in the pictures I posted a few weeks ago in the thread about my construction and north wall insulation here http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/strucs/msg121339449284.html?8 I had problems getting it adjusted so that it would open and close at a higher temp so I have since added an aluminum angle, attached a redwood 2x4 block to the aluminum angle and attached the univent to it. It works much better that way. I'll try to take a picture and post it this weekend.

A recent update from the person who received the yucca is that it is green and doing well. The transplanted cholla are doing well, of course, but it will be a while before I know if any sacaton survived. We have been making progress but not as quickly as we hoped. (No surprise there! ;-) ) We have the foundation blocks for the outside beds in place up to ground level and filled with dirt. Pavers have been placed, but not yet leveled, between the existing shed and the north edge of the foundation. We have the water and electrical stubbed in. We have the SHCS tubes in place for the outside beds of the east greenhouse and hope to start filling that section soon with the removed dirt. We have removed all planned use of poured concrete from our plans and have made this planned structure possible to remove easily while still unlikely to be blown away. (Mostly due to bolting the foundation via J-bolts to rebar under bond beam cement blocks.) DH will be checking to see what type of permits/inspections we will need for electrical, water, and structures. I suspect that it will be just water and electric. We won't fill in any more until we find out. It is getting hot already so we will be putting in the outside structure and shade cloth before the central shed and greenhouses. That way we can work in the shade. :-)

I think the roof vents are my least favorite part of the Harbor Freight greenhouse. The vents on our 10x12 would not stay shut tight, even when the silly vent latches were in the "locked down" position. Because of our prevailing wind, the vents would pick up slightly, then bang down. Over and over, super annoying. I had to silicone the panels into the vent frames, because they vibrated out. I eventually wired the vents shut with baling wire; I got tired of climbing up on a step stool to mess with them on windy days. When we replaced our roof about 3 years ago, we removed the vents entirely. (I said, good riddance.) Looking back, though, I probably should have tried investing in some vent openers (Bayliss or Univent) before giving up entirely. As CanadianLori says, I know it would be a big cooling help during our hot summers. Here in the desert southwest, I manage without the roof vents only because I convert the entire south wall to screen in the summer months, and keep the sliding doors wide open, with three fans running (one exhaust fan.) So I did remove mine, but I stop short of recommending it to others, because I think it does make cooling more difficult. I do agree they are a pain.

I still dont understand. It took us forever to get ours up. I really have to give gardenerwantabe lots of credit. It was you who put the first one up was it not? I bought mine right after you got yours and it has taken my son this long to get it up and finished. Course it sat in the package for a long time before he had time to start and then it took a long time to get done as he only could work on it once in a while. We dont have the vents all done either. They r in but that is about it. It could have been done in half the time if the directions had been written right in the first place. We had to redo so many things but did not end up drilling many holes. Just a few. My son is trying to figure out how to put on the attatchments and also how to make it so I can open them standing on the ground. Any ideas? I guess we r not to smart cause it has us stumped.
