Hi everybody. I originally posted this message to mudhouse's blog, not knowing how to post it here. But, now I do! So, if anyone gets this message twice, lo siento mucho. Anyway, here it is: I have a question about possible corrosion on my new, unassembled HFGH 10x12. The gravel has arrived, the foundation timbers are in place, and I'm ready to build the greenhouse. But, before I begin, I wonder if someone can enlighten me on potential electrical contact corrosion where (mudhouse's) steel "L" brackets connect the EMT to the frame, where the hold-downs meet the steel base, and where the studs also meet the base. Should I somehow insulate these contact points, perhaps with rubber? Is there actually a problem at these spots? Thanks so much. masscactus - ready to build

mudhouse - there was probably 10 inches of snow on the roof. I recognize that I should have gone out earlier and knocked it off but I'm a bit overwhelmed with life and business at the moment, and I simply didn't think about the risk of the weight on the roof. Actually, most of the snow we had received in the storm was very light and fluffy. The problem developed, I believe, after the storm broke and the snow began to accumulate moisture & weight as it started to melt. busy1 - I employed the same reinforcement of 3 lengths of EMD across the interior. That's nice for stiffening the walls but didn't make a difference in terms of this issue. ole_dawg - thanks for telling me about a guy on ebay. I'll have a look. If you happen to have the seller's name, I'd appreciate it. rosepedal - the 1x? material you have running from front to rear is sort of what I have in mind, but my thinking is that it needs to be centered between the ridge and the wall. Additionally, I would really want a minimum of one sturdy post, such as a 2x4, running vertically between those and the ground. This way there is some strength that prevents those boards themselves from bowing under the weight. As mudhouse mentions, the unsupported centers of the roof studs are the weak point. Well first I will have to figure out how to post pictures on this site. I just bought a new digital camera so I will take some pictures of the construction. If I don't put them here I can post them on the same site where I have pictures of my Corvette show car. I know how to upload pictures to that site. I was going to order two of them and put them end to end like several have done with the 6x8 but I just ordered one if it is not big enough I can order another one. My wife is the one that is into flowers I just do the grunt work for her. Between building the greenhouse and getting my car ready for the shows in the spring is going to keep me busy. All the wife will do with this is grow flowers from seed. I built her a water garden and it has flowers all around the ponds and it is pretty in the summer. Last few years I spent about $1000.00 a year at the local nursery for annuals to plant in the water garden plus all the perennials. The greenhouse will save enough to pay for itself besides the wife loves to grow them.
