Mine was two years old also, last year. I Dead Headed all the Flowers and made sure I did NOT Prune. Your not suppose to Prune the first several years except for any dead canes. Anyhow, I didn't see even a single Flower after it's spring Flush.

It was really a matter of cleaning it up, not me expecting to encourage new Flowers. From what I've read here on the Forum, if we expect to get any re-bloom after the first flush, it will be from our older more established Zeffy's. Even then, I don't think we should really expect any significant re-bloom.

I hope the Rose experts chime in and tell us their experiences.

I have a 7-8 year old Zeph right outside my front door. The only thing that I do is cut out the dead canes every year, very little pruning. No deadheading. I get very little rebloom from her.

She may only come around once a year, but what a time it is.... :)

I have way too many Zeffys ( I think 7 )to even attempt to deadhead----

I wouldn't say Zeffy is known for her rebloom--just a few sporadic blooms over the summer

That's good enough for me....no more worries about deadheading ZD! I thought it needed deadheading and pruning to bloom well, but, obviously that is not so.

I don't agree about not pruning a rose the first several years. You just don't need to thin old canes in the first years, but if a rose puts out enough growth to be trained and/or pruned you shouldn't delay.

I grow both Zephy and Kathleen Harrop, the light pink sport. I didn't deadhead Zephy because it is growning on a tall lattice where I can't reach, but I did deadhead KH which is growning on a shorter pillar. And last summer I had the best rebloom ever on KH, but hardly anything on Zephy (which is usual). So... maybe deadheading had something to do with better rebloom, though KH also gets full sun and is in a less challenging situation so that could be a factor.
