WOW, $50! I would not pay fifty dollars for a yucca, varigated or not. Im not sure about where you live, but around here in Maryland you can get yucca's plain and varigated at Home depot for $20! They sometimes sell smaller ones in one gallon pots for 5-6 dollars. Yucca's are cool plants though. I had two of them untill my husband ran them over with his lawn mower. The best part about a yucca is the tall white flowers they have in the spring. I would shop around before spending fifty dollars on one, if you can find it cheaper than mabey you can get two!

well i have a $25.00 coupon I can use towards it..so maybe the true price should only be $25.00..just wondering if i would be getting a good deal using the coupon ..but it sounds like that is what i should be paying anyways..so now i have to decide if i even want to spends the $25.00..they look awfully pretty...r they long lived?

$25.00 is a more reasonable price. 50 is just WAY too much! I have a plain green Yucca, it's very hardy and has lived a long time. Seems to love dry sandy soil. As long as your soil isnt wet this plant will thrive, and give it full sun. I want a variegated one this year too. Good luck!

There are a whole lot of people who don't seem to like their Yucca plants once they have them and once you have them apparently you cannot EVER get rid of them. I forgot to say this in my original post. I have mine planted in the front yard, not in a flower bed, far away from everything else. It gets very large and produces "babies" and can smother smaller plantings nearby. So if you have a nice open space for one go for it!

I have both Bright Edge and Gold Shield. I love them both, their foliage looks bright even in the winter, they are hardy and disease free, and have beautiful, delicate blossoms in early summer. I've had them for 3 years, they have made a couple of babies, but not have not really spread much and are well behaved. I think they might be a problem in warmer climates, but in zone 5 I have never seen them go invasive. I bought mine for about $20 from a nursery. I think Bright Edge has a better, brighter color.

Mine were here when I moved into this place 15 years ago. They were planted in a partial sun area in heavy clay loam. So they never bloom. They are just there looking ugly and spreading. I have dug down three feet to try to get them out. I treat them to roundup two to three times a year. And still they won't die. I think I would need to rent a backhoe for a couple hours of digging and then maybe I'd get it out. Might be great in the right site, but be sure you want it, cause it will be there longer than you will. I seriously doubt running over it with the lawn mower would do more than tickle it.

I've got Bright Edge also. I bought mine for $8. I really like it. It has made a few babies right at the base of the plant. It has not spread anywhere. As with many other plants, maybe the variegated kinds are not as vigorous.

Well running it over with the lawn mower cut those babys all the way back to the ground! The only thing left is the crown. Im sure that they will come back, and thats good cause I like them where they are (not in my garden but lineing my driveway) They are pretty tough plants. I do like them when they bloom, they look like HUGE lily of the valley flowers. So its your decision, everyone is different.

Can you tell me why my yucca plants do not blossom every year?

Wow, we dug up two yuccas this year. They had suffered severe winter damage (I think ice fell off the roof on them). They just looked yuck-a (sorry!)

But, we separated some babies off the crown and transplanted them in another area. It was no trouble to dig up the original plants. We replanted in the area. Are you telling me now that soon it will be "revenge of the yuccas" and some root bit will send a shoot up?
