Unknown Pink Rose, any ideas.

I collected this rose as a cutting about 3-4 years ago. It has a wonderful damask rose fragrance that I would call strong.
Once bloomer, or at least it has never repeated for me.
Leaves are in 5 leaflets, matte and light green, new growth is green with just a slight orange cast. Grows in a vase like shape, thin canes, not very many thorns. Any ideas?

Sorry, difficult to see the shape of the rose. It is way too close to another unknown rose I grew from a cutting. I need to move both of them, but I am out of room without adding another bed.

The rose doesn't ring a bell, but what you say about it makes me wonder if it isn't some kind of Hybrid China. Does it set hips? What do the buds look like? Is the rose deciduous? Does it have a suckering habit?

I collected it as a cutting about 3-4 years ago. The mother plant is growing at a former Birmingham High School building. The building is no longer used as a school. I think it has been closed for a long time. The mother plant is growing up out of a privet bush, so it is difficult to judge its mature shape. But it is about 5ft tall. My plant grows in a 'v' shape and is about 4 ft tall. It has matte leaves in sets of 5 and occasionally 3. The foliage is matte green with wrinkles, but not like a rugosa. Very few thorns, small. New growth is green with just a very light orange cast. Intense Damask fragrance. Once bloomer, or at least so far. I have only observed the mother plant in the spring.That is about all I know. I know very little about once bloomers.

Looks like Shailer's to me! Don't let the presence or absence of suckers sway your ID. I have two plants of this rose ... one suckers like crazy and the other one (the older of the two) hasn't suckered at all. My oldest plant came from a cutting I took at an abandoned (now demolished) house in Spotsylvania. The mother plant was suckering, but I wasn't risking the poison ivy to get a sucker ... so I took as many cuttings as I could do safely. My second plant is a sucker from a cemetery in eastern Virginia. I now have third small plant, still in a pot, rooted from a cutting on a massive thicket of a suckering rose that I found in Fredericksburg. It will be interesting to see if this plant suckers once it's put into the garden. In my garden, Shailer's Provence is one of my first OGRs to flower, and the last to finish. Its canes are relatively smooth, and the leaves are lovely matte green. It grows with an arching habit, that I encourage, because I get WAY more flowers by letting the canes arch. I love this rose and it is one that I will never be without.

We recently purchased a house - August of last year - and it came with this single rosebush. I haven't had a chance to see the full summer cycle yet, but here's what I know about it: Currently about waist-high - 3 foot, maybe? - with a roughly V-shaped profile from ground to tips. Canes are fairly flexible; some of them are drooping from the weight of the flowers currently. It seems to be in two "parts" - the section nearest the street is long, tall canes with foliage more in the top half than the bottom; the section behind it is lower and looks a bit bushier, though there's still a few inches clearance from ground to the first leaves. There are thorns, but they're fairly small and break off easily. Last rose of 2007 was in September, and was a faded pink. We've since learned that the entire yard was unwatered for at least a month before we moved in, and only lightly watered between then and when it bloomed, so there may have been environmental effects here. It's growing in partial shade on the east side of the house. Currently producing buds and blooming like mad - started about three weeks ago, opening two to three flowers every few days. Flowers are one to a stem and a medium pink that I wasn't expecting after last year's faded bloom. It doesn't have a very strong scent; with three blossoms cut and in water in my car, I was getting a faint rosy scent, but wore one in my hair outside for a few hours and didn't smell a thing. One of the current crop of roses . Foliage, a few flowers washed out by a flash, and some buds . Anyone have any ideas?

The shape of the bloom and the deeper pink reverse (back of the petals) on the petals looks more like Radiance to me than Queen Elizabeth. My QE never has a deep pink reverse.

It does not set hips. I posted another photo of the buds. It is deciduous and it does not sucker or has not so far. Keep in mind that I grew it from a cutting. 2 years in a pot and this is the second year it has been in the ground.

It does not remind me of my other Chinas. I grow mainly Chinas and Teas. Thanks for your thoughts!

Shailer's Provence. (I put this on your other thread, too, and am adding it here in case someone comes across this.)

Chinas and Hybrid Chinas are different roses. (though the ARS won't tell you this.) Think of a Hybrid China as the first crosses made in the late 18th and early 19th century between the new-and-amazing everblooming China roses and the once blooming, fragrant, old European roses. Since the reblooming gene in the Chinas is recessive, the original hybrids are once blooming like their European parent. Only with successive crosses between the hybrids did the breeders achieve roses that expressed the recessive gene.

Shailer's Provence is considered the first Hybrid China rose to enter commerce, in the late 1790s.
