Commonly, these seem to accumulate water in the carb bowl and get to that magic point that nothing happens. You can remove the bowl with the carb on the machine if you are somewhat skillful. A stubby straight screwdriver works. You will also need to check if the solenoid below the carb is working- should hear/ feel a click w/ the ignition turned from off to on. You will need to remove the governor bracket bolts and watch the springs if you go this route for bowl access. Be cautious of the o-ring that fits over the pipe assy on the inside. As stated above, flush the line, replace the fuel filter if water/ debris is found.

Tom not certain on the twin, however I just put a Briggs 31P back together and it has a primary 698083, pre-filter beneath it reads "do not oil". Either the customer is running his Ariens out of the throttle detent, or the choke is partially closed in the detent and needs to be trimmed up slightly. The crankcase was filled with oil upon delivery, however if memory serves he mentioned changing that oil after five hours. If the crankcase is over serviced that would explain what he's seeing.

"Walt, does the Intek crankshaft and rods use roller bearing journals or is it just a plain bearing (or no bearing) rod journal?? Or is BS just "custom fitting" the mating parts till they "meet clearance specs"" The Intek uses plain bearings through out. (Machined in casting) I do not know why rods and crank are not sold separately. They have a part number but when you go to price/buy them, they are not available. Labor would make no sense custom fitting especially with the automated machining equipment used today. The friend who brought me the engines I checked out, ran into the same thing. It cost him about $220 for the two rods and crankshaft. I have been trying to think of a "dodge". What came to mind was the old auto machine shop where I used to do a lot of business, they bored out rods and fit inserts from Fiat or some other small foreign car. They are long gone but I have been wondering if I could do that. Finding a rod insert with near the proper ID would be the biggest job, I think. I have the equipment but not sure I have the inclination anymore. Walt Conner

I was cleaning our home this morning and was really bothered by all of the small particles of dust, dander and hair that I could see floating around in the rays of sunshine. I vacuum a lot using a hepa filter, and I change the filter on our furnace frequently, but still I am sure there are a lot of particles that I can't see all the time. Today I even took the vacuum and tried to suck up these particles that I could see in the ray of sun. We are building a new house, and I would like to keep it as clean and fresh as possible, so I wanted to seek the recommendation of this group to help me decide what to do. First, I have been reading about several different air purifiers. I am a little confused on what to look for to remove the dust and dander, as opposed to some of the gimicky things out there. Can anyone help educate me on what I should be looking for in a quality air purifier? Is there a difference between purifier and filter? Also, how do I think about using these machines? I have two dogs and a cat that have a lot of dander and hair (and we also have dander and hair). I will be moving into a 2-stroy house that is about 2300sqft. I can't imagine putting just one or two of these in my house and having them take care of the air for the whole house. Do I need one in every room? Does anyone have cleaning recommendations in addition to the air purifiers? I vacuum frequently, have hard wood floors with some area rugs (and in the new house the master bed, bonus room and guest rooms will have carpet). I got really frustrated knowing how much time I put into cleaning the house with what looks like minimal results. Your help is greatly appreciated. Tim
