what shade cloth do you use in the winter?

During the summer I use a 50% shade cloth on my southern facing greenhouse.

Last year I did put up a shade cloth during the winter also, however I am going to try to grow veggies this year and know I need a lot of light for this. Now I am wondering that if I should just NOT use a shade cloth this winter. I do grow orchids and other plants in the greenhouse also, but they are on the back wall, so they get less light. I do have a light meter, but I just bought it so I can't predict the winter light levels.

I do put up bubble wrap so I am sure that reduces light getting into the greenhouse also, but I don't know how much.

For those people who remove their shade cloths during the winter, when do you remove them and when do you put them back up? I think I would put it back up in late april.

I am hoping to grow carrots, cabbages, lettuces and some peppers (just to see if I get any) this winter.

Any other crop suggestions would be welcomed. I hope to have the greenhouse maintain a temp of 60-65 during the winter as I have tropical plants in there as well.

thoughts?

thanks!
