Seriously though (maybe), I have been wondering about that ornamental tall-growing clumping grass that people like these days. How many of these do I have to plant per square yard before my yard is a "garden" and the city can't make force me to keep it mown?

I retired two years ago and my brain and eyes were taken with simplicity orange. Green and yellow for some but orange and silver for others. I call my conquest bud. It's been good to me. tsk tsk.

From several reliable sources,I have discovered the color green does not "go" with yellow.ie;If U wore a green shirt,than the socks,if you wear them, should be brown. I wonder if the neighbors are pointing and laughing at that,and how much further in debt U have gone. JMHO tbk

I love my Deere GX345 but as a matter of fact yellow is not a wise color for a lawn tractor. I read an article recently that stated yellow jackets are extremely attracted to and agitated by the color yellow. If you happen to be graced with a colony of yellow jackets in your yard you are basically a target if you are on a deere or Cub cadet. Not really a big deal but interesting none the less.

It maybe green and yellow for some but I perfer orange and silver with a very comfortable black high-back seat!!!!!!!

My Conquest is the "beast" and I haven't looked back since I purchased it.

The yellow seat is so you won't burn your backside when the tractor has been sitting in the sun for any length of time. I've experienced a black seat before. It was a very uncomfortable ride back to the barn.

Get from point A (need for a yard machine). to point B (JD dealer) in a straight line - don't stray off the path... All will be asimilated.. Aaahhhh doesn't that feel better?...

Well heck, call me crazy, I still prefer the red and silver Massey Ferguson. I mow each week with a 35 year young 1650MF and grin the whole time I'm useing it.

There are a lot of vintage machines out there that are arguably by far superior to a similar sized JD today.

But that's apples and oranges.

It's what one likes. I own 5 Deeres. Wouldn't give them up. Like my F150 Ford 4X4. Love it as well. I you like what you own, that's all that matters.

the answer is "yes". I turned 45 and bought me a Wheel Horse. Of course I don't drive cars so it was my only vehicular expression of middle age!

Paint the garage Yellow and green,and you may have to live in it.LOL I have two red mowers and one blue.If Yellow and Green is on my property again,I also have a 12 gauge.and need some target pratice.LOL tbk

Gee, what a great outporing of love for yer own tractors! i'd say, the whole gamut of tractors is loved by their owners, which is very good!
I haven't succumbed to the Green and Yellow yet, but i have a good representation of the tractor scene. I have a Simplicity, a Lawn Chief, an MTD, and an old Case Ingersol. Also, several old parts tractors, including a very old "square" Sears tractor, orange with a white hood, no engine, tranny ???, tires ok, a gift from a customer. He also gave me a nice white MTD late model tractor that runs, so i'm holding off on the Green & Yellows! As you can tell---i have a storage problem!
Thought i'd get started on opening my shop, since the Drs. got my head screwed back on straight, so i worked on a chipper yesterday in the nice warm sun--forget the rest of this week--going to rain here, in Pittsburgh, for next 3-4 days! Maybe next week i can go to work again.

Thank goodness we all don't like the same thing because then there would be only one brand. And the thought of having to own a Ford or Dodge makes my stomach roll.

A friend has a Lawn Chief tractor that i service when the time comes. He's had it for quite a long time. The tractor runs very well, and he says it is better than most he has owned.
My Simplicity came from a friend, whose kids didn't feel that they should mow the grass, so they drained out the oil, then ran it until it went "BANG"! Not wanting to buy a new engine, they gave it to me.
On another note, i brought home an old Speedex garden tractor in need of some TLC! Not a gift-they want it fixed!
A heavy tractor, made of steel and iron! No plastic--except for the knobs! Built to last, so they say, and i believe it. No tin pieces on it, except for the hood and dash panel.

yellow jackets are color blind...only see in shades of gray...a corvette should never be yellow unless a cute little blonde babe with bleached blonde hair and red lips is drivin it...and green and yellow lets ya blend in the landscape so ya honey can't find ya...I love my green and yellow JD and honey bun is still out there lookin for me...

Many different insects ARE drawn to the color yellow - It's a documented fact, though I don't know about yellow jackets specifically

In the '60's I was stationed at a small radar site on the Oregon coast (North Bend) We had 25 or 30 small boats (some large enough for a pair of twin 150's on them) available for rent to all squadron personnel and a new (but not very bright) commander decided he wanted them all painted the same color, so when he drove by any of the fishing or recreation areas, he could tell at a glance which ones were 'his'

We got about 50 gallons of fork lift yellow paint through DMR for free, so he decided that bright yellow would be THE color for all 'his' boats - Easily seen from miles away. One at a time they all got repainted over the course of a couple of weeks

After that, the boats were almost useless, and it got so bad that nobody ever rented them again until they got repainted, about a year later. Every horse fly, mosquito, gnat or just about any other flying pest would descend on the occupants of those boats and eat you ALIVE! None of the other nearby boats on the lake or river were bothered because all the pests hung around the yellow boats
