I have no idea. I just wish mine was hooked to a thermostat. Mine comes on every hour even at night and when it's overcast. I have a timer and the selonoid(?) value. Just my DH has no time to hook it up.

At the risk of hijacking my own thread, what kind of thermostat, timer, and valve do you have? Maybe you could get it hooked up yourself.

I have the GreenAir controllers. Model MCC1 (but an older model because mine does not have the relays and model CT-HT-2. I also several seperate thermostats. The selenoid is just one I got at HD for about $17.
I could get something else if I need to to make it easier. One problem I have is low pressure so I have a faucet at each end connected to the misters because with just one by the time the water reaches the other side it's a dribble.
My DH said He needed to put a one inch water line running to the other end so I will have better pressure.
I can be handy when I need to so tell me what to do and I'll try it. My DH worked 59 hours last week with over an hours drive each way. So he leaves around 5AM and gets home at 8PM. I told him I talked to him more on the phone at night when he worked out of town for one and two years at a stretch and came home on weekends.

So do you use the cycle timer function for the misting? How is the valve hooked up? Do you just have it plugged into the controller? Do you have two valves, one for the faucet at each end? It looks like everything runs off of line voltage (110VAC).

If you have the valve plugged into the cycle timer, you could just get one of those prewired thermostats that has a receptacle on the back of the plug. Then you could plug the thermostat into the controller and the valve into the back of the thermostat plug. Moisture could be a safety issue there.

There has to be a way to do it.

Water pressure could be a problem. I was using little 1/4" OD tubing for my mist bench and didn't get such fine mist. I bumped up to 1/2" tubing and noticed a remarkable difference. The 1" water line to the other side ought to help a lot.

Could you give us a little more info. What are the manufacturers and models of the two units? Are you using an external 24VAC source or is the 24VAC sourced by one or both controllers? Are you using the relay to control a 120 VAC solenoid valve or does the valve also run on 24 VAC?

The misting controller is the Phytotronics 2 zone unit, and the climate controller is Bartlet GHK12X2. Both run off of separate external 24VAC transformers. The valve is a Red Hat 24VAC normally closed solenoid valve.

The selonoid valve is not hooked up so therefore I can't connect the misters to the Greenair controllers. I use the battery operated Toro timers. It's a 24 hr type timer so it runs on a continious cycle day and night.
Your controllers are a lot more sophisticated than mine.

Cactus, your valve sounds like one of the Rainbird or Toro lawn irrigation valves. Is that right? Most of those run on 24VAC for safety reasons. Is that right as well? Do you have a plug-in type of thermostat?

Now, I'm no electrician, but if the answers above are "yes," this is what I would try: go to Radio Shack and ask for a 110VAC to 24VAC transformer, the plug in variety. Plug the thermostat into the controller. Plug the transformer into the back of the thermostat plug (being sure to keep this part dry). Using 18/2 wire and the outdoor wire nuts with caulk in them, wire the transformer output to the solenoid. Put the solenoid in the water line and you are ready to go.

Cottagefarmer is way beyond both of us in regard to electronics (remember, he is building his OWN controller). He may have other ideas on this.

It looks simple enough to me. The controller relay coil operates to close the contacts in series with the misting solenoid coil when the temperature gets above 95. Unless those contacts are closed no misting takes place regardless of the timer. Al

Yes but it should work either way, right? If the controller, attached to the coil, closes the contacts when it's over 95 degrees, then the misting signal should go through through for a minute every hour. The other way, when the mister is attached to the relay coil, the contacts close every hour for one minute, and the controller signal goes across the contacts when it is over 95 degrees.

The second way works, but the first way doesn't. The first way makes the valve click at the right time but it doesn't open. It's kind of academic, but I'm still interested in know the reason.

I think you would want the adjustable timer, not the percentage timer. That looks like it would work.

Here is a schematic to do what you want, as I understand it. There is an additional toggle switch that effectively breakes the connection between the two units so they can work independently. The COOL2 output from the Bartlett unit can also be used to power other 24VAC loads such as additional relays to operate shutters and fans. Be carefull not to exceed the total rating (which I believe is an amp or two).

If you are hearing a click from the water solenoid but the valve is not opening I would guess you have the solenoid at this time in series with a relay coil, reducing the current flow through the solenoid and the magnetic force. Al

I have a question for y'all!

Why wouldn't you just want to use a humidistat to control the solenoid valve? From reading other threads in this forum - too much humidity is bad for your plants, depending on the type you have. Also - too much humidity can cause mold and bacteria to form.

I have just ordered my greenhouse - waiting for it to be delivered so I am trying to figure out the best way to set up my misting system.

The high humidity is counter-acted by the circulating fans.
Even with misters going 10mins an hour every hour I still have to water at least every other day and mist my plants. I only had one plant that got too wet and I put a floor fan there to solve the problem.
What type and size greenhouse did you order?

I bought a ClearSpan Elite 9'1"W x 9'9"L x 8'3"H with a 60% black shade panel. So far I have a 10 nozzle Arizona Misting system and a tower floor fan. I live in NC and we can get into the 100's in August the high right now is about 95. My greenhouse will set in full sun south of the house. There are no trees or structures to block any sun.
