Florida greenhouses

Hi

I'm in the process of remodeling my large shadehouse to not only expand it but hopefully to house some tropical birds. I live in zone 10 florida so cold weather is a long way down the list of problems. But we do get the occasional frost so was wondering how to go about heating it??

What type of covering should be on the outside??

In the past I've just used frost cloth and forced heat from the house but only when below 40 for more than 3 hours.

The main problem with using coverings is that even on the coldest day when the sun comes up the structure will quickly overheat and of course storing the covers for long periods of time.

Any suggestions?? i was told the birds I want to keep should be kept above 60 while temps above 90 are not a problem. Obviously there would be approximately 3 weeks per year when it would not be suitable.

Thanks in advance

gary
