Garden shed placed in sandbox

Hi All, Well, the kids are grown, the swingset is gone and the sandbox is empty of everything except the sand. It's an excellent spot for a garden shed. My question is: can I wet the sand and tamp it down and set the shed right on it? The base of the shed is made of 2X6 galvanized steel around the outside and every two feet on center underneath. These steel joists are supposed to last 40 years, which is plenty for me. My concern is that the sand is 8 inches deep in one corner and zero in the opposite corner (bare dirt) and I figure it might start to settle in after awhile. I suppose the alternative would be to buy a number of cement pavers of some kind to place on the sand first, but they are heavy and expensive. Any comments?

Thanks,

Jerry
