Is the idler pulley keeping tension on the belt? There is also a bent wire belt guide there to adjust too. The idler pulley shaft rotates under the drive disc. Does it move freely? There is no harm in moving your drive pulley to align with another pulley if there is no interference. Loosen the set screw and move it. This post was edited by baymee on Tue, Apr 16, 13 at 15:01

Originally, I had no drive, but it turned out to be the transmission gears were stripped. I had the transmission rebuilt and the mower ran for about 2 months.....last weekend while mowing, I lost the self propelled again. This time I have no output from the drive shaft. The transmission is ok, but output (not spinning). Is it repairable? Is is worth repairing the shaft? mahalo, Joe

I have a Gilson Compact Tiller 51095C-45139 Serial #6359W1 and require a gear that drives the tines from the worm. Any info where I might find one would be greatly appreciated. Or the part # for the gear would help. Thanks

There is a way in which a driveshaft can be severly damaged: The front U-joint breaks dropping the front end of the drive shaft onto the street while the rear end remains attached. The front end of the shaft slides to the side and is run over by the rear wheels. Lots of damage in this scenario, not to mention potential contact with the vehicle in the adjacent lane. To guard from this hazard, install a catch loop under the drive shaft. Its purpose is prevent the front end of the drive shaft from falling onto the roadway.
