Murray Owner's Manual

Does anyone have a copy of an ownerÂs manual for this Murray?
It's easier to fine hen's teeth in the hands of a loveable mother-in-law.

No owners manual, but some of the parts drawings might be useful???

Thank you for direction to the parts list. That is something I need to print out and keep for future reference.

My concern, right now, is the throttle. There is a turtle below and a rabbit above (a no brainer) but above the rabbit there is shown an "N", which the meaning for eludes me. Where should the throttle be set when the engineÂs being started and can it be safely run at WOT? Should it be run at WOT like an outboard?

That plate with the six holes is the leveling mechanism. Each hole is slightly higer or lower than the others. If you tried them all, and it still doesn't mow level, then my guess would be a bent blade. Raise the deck all the way, and line the ends of the blades up so the blades are both pointed side-to-side. The ends where they meet in the middle of the deck should be the same height. Now, turn one blade around 180 degrees and try the other end. Then turn the other blade. If you find that one of the four ends is not the same height as the others, then replace the blades.

Misplaced my deck and mower manuals.... It was in two parts. Briggs Twin 16hp, 42" deck, 4spd. The model # is 81-43660X92 . I've ckd other sites and Murray but they no longer provide the pdf files. I guess we can still post pictures here but have forgotten how that works...:) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, The dealer just delivered it to me yesterday, Oct 19, so it's a new thing to me. It is a 2005 model probably just like yours, has 340 hours on it and looks and runs like new. I have had a 265 for years and it took a little adjusting for me to get used to the GX355 but it seems great. Yesterday afternoon I ran it for 2 hours mowing and mulching leaves and now feel very comfortable with it. The web site you sent me with the manual has helped me very much. Thanks

Possibly the "N" is the symbol for the choke? We would then assume that there is no separate choke lever. So normal cold starting, move the lever to the top to enable the choke and once started down to the run position. Warm starts may not require the choke. When working the tractor, use it in WOT for sure. Air cooled engines and hydro transmissions cool better at higher speeds.

The "icon" that looks like the letter N is truly the symbol for choke. Actually, it is not the letter N at all. The 2 vertical lines in this symbol represent the intake passage "tube" and the diagonal "slash" represents the choke plate or "butterfly" in the closed position. tomplum hammered that one very well.
